Swansea v Cardiff betting tips: Welsh derby is a real six-pointer
Preview and odds for Sunday’s Championship clash
There is a cracking Welsh derby in prospect in the Championship on Sunday so we look at the odds to find some Swansea v Cardiff betting tips.
Swansea have won one of their last seven league games, while bitter rivals Cardiff arrive on the back of two heavy defeats for what promises to be an intriguing scarp.
Sunday’s match, which takes place at the Liberty Stadium, kicks off at 12.00pm and is live on Sky Sports.
Swansea v Cardiff match odds
Swansea have won two of their opening 11 Championship games but have managed just one win in their last seven outings.
They sit in 19th place in the table, a place ahead of the visitors, and the two teams are level on 11 points.
The Swans have drawn five games this season, including when held to a goalless draw by bottom club Derby last time out.
Their home form has been better than on the road, with only Stoke taking all three points from the Liberty Stadium, and the hosts are 6/4 to beat Cardiff.
Having reached the play-off final last season where they lost out to Brentford, Swansea have won one and drawn three of their five games at home this season, but have managed to score just two goals at home. Three of those games ended scoreless and it is 2/1 that the game will end in deadlock and it is 13/2 that it will end in a goalless draw.
Cardiff have lost six of their 11 games, including heavy defeats in their last two, going down 5-1 at Blackburn before losing 4-0 at home to West Brom.
Two of their three wins have come on the road – at Blackpool and Nottingham Forest – but they are on a run of four successive defeats and Mick McCarthy’s side are 2/1 to win.

Swansea v Cardiff head-to-head
Cardiff took the spoils in this fixture last season with Aden Flint’s eighth-minute strike proving the only goal of the game. It was the Bluebirds’ first win in five meetings, with Swansea having taken three of the previous four.
The last eight meetings have been won to nil and it is 3/4 that one or other team fail to score this time.
Cardiff have won just five of the last 22 meetings (D5 L11) and have only won back-to-back meetings once since 1988. It is 4/11 for Swansea to win or draw the game on the double chance market.
There have not been too many goals in recent meetings, with just three goals or more scored once in the last eight clashes. It is 8/15 that there will be under 2.5 goals scored on Sunday which is worth consideration for Swansea v Cardiff betting tips.
Swansea v Cardiff key battles
Cardiff need a better return from their strikers, particularly from former Luton man James Collins, whose pairing with Kieffer Moore looked to be fruitful in pre-season.
Collins has scored more than 10 league goals in each of his last five seasons – two of which saw him surpass the 20-mark – but he has failed to score in five starts.
Moore, whose goal gave Wales a 1-0 win in Estonia on Tuesday, has netted just once for the Bluebirds this term. Both could be of interest in the anytime goalscorer markets, as both are simply too good to have long barren spells and they will be a handful for the Cardiff defence.
