Preview and odds for Thursday’s Europa League clash

Leicester will bid for back-to-back Europa League wins when they host Russian opposition on Thursday, so we look at the odds for some Leicester v Spartak Moscow betting tips.

The Foxes got off the mark at the third attempt in Group C by winning 4-3 in Moscow but sit third in the table as they prepare for this reverse fixture.

Thursday’s match, which takes place at the King Power Stadium, kicks off at 8pm and is live on BT Sport 2.

Leicester v Spartak Moscow match odds

Patson Daka was the hero for Leicester in the Otkritie Arena, scoring all four of Leicester’s goals as they came from 2-0 down to win 4-3 and gain a first win in Group C.

Having been held to a 2-2 draw by Napoli at home and defeated 1-0 at Legia Warsaw on matchday two, it was a much-needed victory and Brendan Rodgers’ side are still 12/1 co-second favourites to win the Europa League.

Since 2016, Leicester won seven of their first eight home matches across the Champions League and Europa League, drawing the other – but have since failed to win either of their last two such home games, losing to Slavia Prague before drawing against Napoli.

They have been in indifferent form domestically, too, and enter the game on the back of a 2-0 home defeat by Arsenal.

The Foxes are 3/10 to win and 17/10 to win but concede in the Leicester v Spartak Moscow betting tips.

Spartak Moscow lost their opening group game at home to Legia Warsaw (1-0) but defeated Napoli on the road on matchday two and are looking to win consecutive away games in major European competition for the first time since a three-game run between December 2010 and March 2011.

They were thumped 7-1 by Zenit following their defeat by Leicester and their latest domestic game ended in a 1-1 home draw with FC Rostov on Saturday. The draw is on offer at odds of 17/4.

Spartak Moscow, who are 9/1 to win, are winless in their last six trips to England (D1 L5), and most recently suffered a 7-0 defeat to Liverpool in December 2017 – their heaviest ever European loss.

Leicester v Spartak Moscow head-to-head

This will be the sides’ second meeting in history and the first time Leicester have faced Russian opposition at home.

Both sides scored in the last meeting and 5/6 for both to do so again is worth considering for Leicester v Spartak Moscow betting tips.

Leicester’s home defeat by Arsenal was the eighth consecutive game in all competitions where they have conceded at least once and that is an issue for Rodgers. It is 7/10 that Spartak Moscow score at least once and it is 5/4 that the Foxes win to nil.

Leicester v Spartak Moscow key battles

Daka became the first Leicester player to score four in a game since Derek Hines did so against Aston Villa in 1958 and Spartak are well aware of the threat he poses.

Those four goals means he is now the club’s joint-top scorer in European competition, along with Jame Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Vardy and Daka are 3/4 and 4/5 respectively to get on the scoresheet at any time.
