South Korean K League Preview: Jeonbuk to make it two wins from two?
Odds and preview ahead of this weekend’s fixtures
It’s the second weekend of fixtures in this season’s South Korean K League, with all 12 teams in action across Saturday and Sunday.
We’ve got three fixtures on each day, starting with a 6:00 clash between Sangju Sangmu Phoenix and Gangwon on Saturday. Ahead of the action, we give the odds and preview each fixture.
Saturday
The pick of Saturday’s matches comes from the Busan Gudeok Stadium at 11:00, as Busan I Park host defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
The host’s campaign got off to a slow start, losing 2-0 away to Pohang Steelers. In contrast, Jeonbuk opened their season up with a 1-0 home win against the 10-men of Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
Jeonbuk are the odds-on 2/3 favourites to make it two wins from two at the start of the season, with hosts Busan out at 4/1 to bag three points. Fancy a draw? That’s priced up at 11/4.
With Busan failing to score in their opening match, and Jeonbuk keeping a clean sheet, we’ve got 9/5 on Jeonbuk to Win to Nil.
Elsewhere, in the weekend’s opener, Sangju Sangmu Phoenix are the 11/5 outsiders to bag their first points of the season against Gangwon. Sangju are looking to bounce back after a 4-0 humiliation on the first weekend.
Gangwon are 6/5 favourites to win their second match, and you can find the draw at 5/2.
From 8:30, Daegu host Pohang Steelers. Daegu were involved in the only draw in the first round of matches, and you can find a draw in this one priced at 2/1. If you fancy the home side to win, that’s 29/20 with Pohang 2/1 to net three points.
Sunday
Sunday’s fixtures get started with the pick of the weekend, where quick starters Ulsan Hyundai travel to Suwon Samsung Bluewings, who’ll be hoping to make amends for their first week defeat.
Bluewings will be without Australian midfielder Terry Antonis after his red card against Jeonbuk, and they come into their first home game of the season as 27/10 underdogs.
Ulsan started the campaign with a fantastic performance against Sangju, netting four goals and three points. They could be Jeonbuk’s nearest title challengers this season and are even money to get their second win in succession.
Fancy Ulsan to run riot in this one? We’ve got an Ulsan win with over 2.5 goals priced at 12/5.
Later, FC Seoul take on Gwangju from 11:00. Both sides ran out in defeats in gameweek one, but it’s the home side who are the 21/20 favourites to get their first win of the campaign. Gwangju can be found at 5/2.
The final game of the weekend sees Seongnam FC host Incheon United from 11:00. After defeat in their first match, Incheon will be looking to get points on the board. They’re 5/2 to win, with Seongnam 6/5 favourites to win again. The draw is 2/1.
