We’d be little under a month away from the start of UEFAEuro 2020 in normal circumstances, with the tournament originally scheduled tostart on Friday 12th June. Instead, we’re looking back on one of the greatestEuropean Championships in recent history.
England hosted UEFA Euro 96 in what turned out to be a sensational summer of the beautiful game. Football was ‘coming home’, until the Germans had other ideas and beat England on penalties in the semi-finals at Wembley, before going on to beat the Czech Republic in the final with a Golden Goal.
With so many top-class players competing on English soil, can you remember who performed to their peak of their powers on the biggest European stage? We’re asking you to name the starting XI in the Team of the Tournament, plus the seven substitutes – think you can name all 18?
