Southampton v Wolves betting tips: Hosts seek first win
Preview and odds for Sunday’s Premier League clash
We have looked at the odds for the first of Sunday’s two Premier League matches in a bid to find some Southampton v Wolves betting tips.
Saints have only lost once in the league this season but are still searching for their first win, while Wolves have lost four of five but are just a point behind the south-coast club.
Sunday’s match, which takes place at St Mary’s Stadium, kicks off at 2pm and is live on Sky Sports.
Southampton v Wolves match odds
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has seen his side lose their opening game of the season at Everton and then draw their next four. They still seek a first Premier League win and are 31/20 to get it against Wolves.
Saints are winless in their last seven top-flight games yet the manager will be pleased that they have kept consecutive clean sheets – against free-scoring West Ham and Manchester City – which was something they failed to do in their previous 24 league games.
Southampton are 2/1 to make it a hat-trick of clean sheets.
Saints last had a longer run of draws in February 1995, when they set a joint Premier League record with seven draws in a row. They are 21/10 to draw the game in the Southampton v Wolves betting tips.
Wolves gained their first goals and first victory of the season two weeks ago when defeating Watford 2-0 on the road but then lost at home by the same scoreline to Brentford.
Wolves have now lost seven of their last eight Premier League games, but seek back-to-back away wins in the competition for the first time since a run of three in June 2020 and are 9/5 to do so.
Their confidence would not have been helped by their midweek League Cup exit on penalties at the hands of Tottenham.
"We didn't start well in the game. After Yerson's injury, the change came so soon, and then the way we suffered the two goals is disappointing for us."

Southampton v Wolves head-to-head
This has been a favourable fixture for Wolves in recent times. Southampton have won just one of their last 10 league meetings (D4 L5), which was a 3-1 home win in April 2019.
Wolves have won their last two Premier League away games against Southampton, as many victories as they had managed in their previous 14 league visits to St Mary’s/The Dell combined.
Bruno Lage’s side are 4/9 to gain at least a point on the Double Chance market while both sides scored in five of the last six meetings and it is 5/6 that this will be the case again.
Six of the last 11 meetings yielded three goals or more and it is 11/10 for that to occur this time in the Southampton v Wolves betting tips.
Southampton v Wolves key battles
Wolves have a problem scoring goals – they have failed to net in four of their five games and it is 16/5 that Saints win to nil.
Southampton have opened the scoring in each of their last five Premier League meetings with Wolves and are evens to score first.
They won first time around (3-1 in April 2019), but have failed to win any of the subsequent four (D2 L2). It is 10/1 for the Saints to lead at half-time but fail to win and 14/1 for Wolves to win from behind.
