Premier League Stats: Who’s made the most passes, tackles, fouls and more?

We look at some of the best – and worst – performers fromthe season so far
While we wait for football to return, we’ve been thinkingabout the players who’ve stood out in the Premier League this season – for goodand bad reasons.
Jamie Vardy heads the goalscoring charts with 19 strikes sofar. Kevin De Bruyne has recorded a league-leading 16 assists, with ThierryHenry’s all-time Premier League record of 20 assists within reach.
But what if we dig a little further? Who’s been given the most red cards? Who’s been unlucky enough to hit the woodwork more than anyone else? Keep reading to find out…
Most passes – Virgil van Dijk (2,478)
Virgil van Dijk is out on his own here. Manchester City midfielder Rodrigo is in second, though he’s almost 500 passes behind Liverpool’s defensive rock.
We all know how Van Dijk has transformed the Reds’ backline. But his ability on the ball has helped them to control matches much better too.
Whether he keeps things simple or looks to go long to the front three, he can be counted on to find a teammate.
Most crosses – Trent Alexander-Arnold (313)
No surprises here. Alexander-Arnold’s delivery from the right has been an important weapon for Liverpool this term. He’s got 12 assists in the league, an incredible return for a full-back.
De Bruyne is second on 244 crosses, with Everton’s Lucas Digne in third spot (218).
Most shots – Raul Jimenez (99)
A slightly surprising result here, as Wolves have only takenthe eighth-highest number of shots in total (372). But Jimenez is their focalpoint and capable of getting on the end of passes played on the ground or inthe air.
Mohamed Salah is just behind the Mexican striker on 98shots, with Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino third with 87 shots. Firminowill want to work on his conversion rate when football returns. He’s onlyscored with eight of those 87 attempts.
Hit woodwork – Marcus Rashford (6)
Marcus Rashford is already having the goalscoring season of hiscareer in terms of goals. He’s got 14 in the league, a personal best and thehighest tally at Manchester United this season. But if he’d been a littleluckier, he could have been right in the race for the golden boot.
Watford winger Gerard Deulofeu has seen the ball strike thewoodwork five times. Man City duo Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are joint-thirdafter being denied four times each.
Most red cards – Christian Kabasele (2)
Watford defender Christian Kabasele has this unwanted achievement,as the only player in the division to have seen red more than once this term.
It’s especially impressive when you consider that theBelgian has only started in 18 of Watford’s 29 league games. He made a slowstart to the season too, as an unused sub in four of the Hornet’s opening sixfixtures.
Most tackles – Ricardo Pereira (119)
There aren’t many better right-backs around than LeicesterCity’s Ricardo Pereira. As well as being solid defensively, he’s a real threatgoing forward.
The Portugal international has made 20 more tackles than second-placedAaron Wan-Bissake. Pereira’s Leicester teammate Wilfred Ndidi is third with 99tackles.
Most blocks – Tyrone Mings (40)
Tyrone Mings’ displays at the back have been a real brightspot for Aston Villa this season. He’s now part of the England set-up and ifVilla are going to stay up, you’d imagine Mings will have a key role to play.
It’s no surprise that two Burnley players take second andthird here, in James Tarkowski (37) and Ben Mee (30) respectively.
Most fouls – Etienne Capoue (47)
Etienne Capoue has been very busy in the defensive midfieldspot for Watford this season, leading the way in terms of fouls.
Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, a player not known for hisdecision-making, is second (46). Ricardo Pereira and Bournemouth’s CallumWilson play in very different positions, but they’re level in third with 45fouls each.
Clean sheets – Nick Pope (11)
Food for thought here for England boss Gareth Southgateafter a very impressive season from Burnley’s Nick Pope.
Just behind Pope are Dean Henderson, Alisson and KasperSchmeichel with 10 clean sheets each.
Most goals conceded – Jordan Pickford (46)
The Everton keeper will be hoping Southgate isn’t aware ofthis stat. You’d expect a goalkeeper battling relegation to be leading here,not the number one at a club with European ambitions.
Norwich City’s Tim Krul (45) is just behind Pickford, with BenFoster and Aaron Ramsdale joint-third with 44 goals conceded.
