Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

Norwich hope to kick-start their season with a win as we examine the odds for some Norwich v Watford betting tips.

The Canaries have endured a really difficult return to the Premier League, losing all four games, while Watford won on the opening weekend but they have suffered three straight defeats since.

This match, which takes place at Carrow Road, kicks off at 3pm BST.

Norwich v Watford match odds

When the fixtures for the Premier League season were announced in June, it looked highly predictable that Norwich would struggle early in the campaign.

Few expected them to pick up anything from their opening four games against Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester and Arsenal – and so it has proved.

Norwich have lost each game and shipped 11 goals in the process. It also extends a run which has seen Daniel Farke’s side lose their last 14 Premier League games, scoring just twice and conceding 35 times.

They hope to avoid the ignominy of becoming just the fifth side to lose their first five Premier League games.

They are bottom of the league and face a Watford side who have a good recent record against the East Anglian outfit, with City 6/5 to beat them.

Watford, similarly returning to the Premier League after a short hiatus, won their opening game against Aston Villa 3-2 but have lost their last three, all without scoring, against Brighton, Tottenham and Wolves.

The Hornets are 5/2 to win the game while the draw is on offer at 23/10 in the Norwich v Watford betting tips.

Norwich v Watford head-to-head

Norwich have lost each of their last four league meetings with Watford, with both in the Championship last season finishing 1-0 to the Hornets.

Furthermore, Watford have won six of their last nine away league games against Norwich (L3), as many as they had in their previous 40 visits to Carrow Road (W6 D10 L24).

However, given their recent lack of goals, Norwich are 13/5 to win to nil, although Austria keeper Daniel Bachmann (pictured above) will hope to keep a clean sheet.

The same can be said for Norwich, who have found goals hard to come by.

Those looking at a goalless draw will find the historical stats against them.

In the last 40 meetings, there have been just five draws and only one of those finished goalless – in February 1988.

It is 8/1 the game ends 0-0 in the Norwich v Watford betting tips.

In the Premier League, Watford have won three of their four meetings with Norwich (L1), with the Hornets netting exactly two goals in all four games. They are 21/10 to score two goals or more this time.

Both sides found the net in just two of the last eight meetings and it is 10/11 one side fails to score.

However, in seven of the last 11 meetings, three or more goals have been scored and it is 21/20 that this trend will continue in the Norwich v Watford betting tips.

Norwich v Watford key battles

Norwich will hope to create more chances than they have lately – just eight shots on target in their opening four games.

Teemu Pukki is the focal point in the Norwich attack. Though he has faced Watford four times and failed to score, he is 9/4 to score and Norwich win and 7/4 to strike at any time.

Watford, meanwhile, need to find a cure for their travel sickness.

They have lost nine of their last 10 Premier League away games (D1), including eight in a row.

As a result, Norwich are 1/3 to win or draw the game in the Double Chance market in the Norwich v Watford betting tips.
