Preview and odds for Tuesday’s match

Manchester United still have work to do to secure their runners-up spot in the Premier League after back-to-back home defeats to top-four chasers Leicester and Liverpool.

Those losses have not only confirmed rivals Manchester City as champions but mean United still need at least two points from their final two matches to guarantee second place.

All of the Red Devils’ six defeats this season have come at Old Trafford and they will be desperate not to add to that tally when they host already-relegated Fulham on Tuesday in front of their supporters for the first time since March 2020.

The Cottagers succumbed to an immediate return to the Championship and have little more than pride to play for in their last two games.

Tuesday’s match is a 6pm kick off, live on Sky Sports, as we pick out some possible Manchester United v Fulham betting tips.

Manchester United v Fulham match odds

Fulham have the pressure off which may help them head to Old Trafford with no fear and they have picked up away wins against Leicester and Liverpool this season. They are 15/2 to come away with a win and 19/5 to avoid defeat.

Scott Parker’s men have struggled to find the net all season though. Only Sheffield United have scored fewer than their 25 league goals, but United have shown defensive frailties and have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven Premier League games. Only Newcastle and West Brom have conceded more home goals this season.

Both teams to score is available at 5/6 while United are 8/1 to come from behind to win, having taken a league-high 31 points from losing positions.

Four of United’s last six league games have seen at least four goals scored, so a Red Devils win with over 3.5 goals is an interesting option at 11/5.

Manchester United v Fulham head-to-head

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side recovered from an early Ademola Lookman goal to secure a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, with Edinson Cavani’s goal and a fine strike from Paul Pogba enough to earn all three points.

United are unbeaten in their last 13 matches against the Cottagers, dating back to 2009 when they lost back-to-back matches at Craven Cottage.

Fulham have won just once at Old Trafford since 1964.

Previous XI

Fulham: Areola, Tete, Andersen, Adarabioyo, Robinson, Anguissa, Lemina, Cavaleiro, Reid, Lookman, Mitrovic.

Team news

Anthony Martial and Daniel James could be in contention for United, which would be timely with the Europa League final just over a week away. Martial has been sidelined with a knee problem and James has also missed the recent run of games.

Scott Parker will not have Tom Cairney available for the remainder of Fulham’s season. Antonee Robinson, who picked up an ankle injury against Burnley last Monday, is also not expected to play.

Key battles

In-form United forwards Cavani and Greenwood will fancy their chances against a Fulham defence who are seven games without a clean sheet. Cavani has scored eight goals in his last nine games and is evens to score anytime against Fulham.

Paul Pogba has enjoyed himself against the Cottagers, scoring three goals in the two meetings. He is 4/1 to score in a United win.

Fulham’s struggles in front of goal are underlined by the fact that their top scorer Bobby Decordova-Reid has gone 12 games without a goal. He is 7/2 to end that run at Old Trafford.
