Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

Rampant Liverpool host high-flying Brighton in the Premier League and we have scoured the odds to find some Liverpool v Brighton betting tips.

The Reds thrashed Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford last Sunday while Brighton suffered a 4-1 home defeat by champions Manchester City before having contrasting fortunes in the League Cup.

Saturday’s match, which takes place at Anfield, kicks off at 3pm.

Liverpool v Brighton match odds

Liverpool stunned United in clinical fashion with Mohamed Salah’s hat-trick helping the Reds to a dominant victory, a week after going to Vicarage Road and beating Watford 5-0.

They are looking to become the fourth side to win three top-flight games in a row by five-plus goals, after Aston Villa in 1899, Chelsea in 2010 and Manchester City in 2017.

It is 14/5 there will be over 4.5 goals in total scored in the game and it is 20/1 for Liverpool to win 5-0 again.

Liverpool have scored 27 goals in nine Premier League matches this season – their best since 1987-88 when they had bagged 28 at this stage and went on to win the title.

The Reds, who sit a point behind leaders Chelsea, are unbeaten in their last 19 Premier League matches (W14 D5) and are 1/4 to beat Brighton.

They also progressed to the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday after defeating Preston 2-0 at Deepdale.

The Seagulls are fifth in the table, having won four and drawn three of their nine games, and are seven points behind Chelsea following their second defeat of the season.

Brighton gave Leicester a hard League Cup battle in midweek but eventually went out on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

They are unbeaten away from the Amex, however, having won at Burnley and Brentford and taking a point at Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Brighton, who conceded four goals for the first time in 43 Premier League matches when defeated by Manchester City, shipped as many goals in that game as they had done in their last seven combined.

Graham Potter’s side are 11/1 to win at Anfield while the draw is available at 24/5.

Liverpool v Brighton head-to-head

Brighton have won five of their 33 previous meetings with Liverpool, the last of those coming at Anfield with Steven Alzate’s second-half strike enough for Brighton to secure a 1-0 victory in February this year.

Having won their first six Premier League encounters with Brighton, Liverpool picked up just one point in their two clashes last season and the Seagulls are looking to land back-to-back victories against the Reds for the first time.

It is 29/10 Brighton either win or draw the game in the Double Chance market.

No less than 23 of their 33 meetings saw three goals or more in total and it is 1/2 that trend continues.

Brighton have scored in their last four meetings with the Reds and it is 23/20 they register at least once.

Liverpool v Brighton key battles

Can anyone stop Salah?

The Egyptian is in sensational form and has netted 10 Premier League goals in nine games.

Salah has also been involved in nine goals in his eight league games against Brighton (five goals, four assists).

He is 8/13 to score at any time and 11/1 to grab another hat-trick.

Perhaps the onus will fall on Sadio Mane, as he has never scored in six meetings against Albion and is 5/4 to break that duck at any stage.
