Arsenal v Liverpool betting tips: Reds to test Gunners’ title credentials
Arsenal v Liverpool betting tips, predictions and odds
These two teams have made contrasting starts to the season but there is little to separate them in the odds for this weekend’s showdown as we pick out some Arsenal v Liverpool betting tips.
Arsenal head into the match with an 11-point advantage over their visitors, who do have a game in hand but have managed just two wins from their first seven games.
Sunday’s match at the Emirates Stadium kicks off at 4.30pm and is live on Sky Sports.
Arsenal v Liverpool form
Arsenal start the weekend sitting pretty at the top of the table and are now seen as the biggest threat to favourites Manchester City in the Premier League winner odds.
Seven wins from eight matches has been a stunning start to the campaign by Mikel Arteta’s men, whose only defeat was a 3-1 loss at Manchester United when they were the better team for long periods.
The Gunners have been helped by a favourable fixture list but last weekend’s 3-1 win in the north London derby against Tottenham was a statement result and suggested Arsenal could be genuine title contenders.

The visit of Liverpool is another stern test despite the Reds’ rocky form. A 2-0 Champions League victory against Rangers at least got Liverpool back to winning ways in midweek and the early goal plus Trent Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick gave us winning betting tips at 23/10 and 11/1 in our match preview!
They dropped Premier League points again last weekend though when they were held to a 3-3 draw by Brighton at Anfield.
Their away form has been the biggest concern and they have picked up just two points from trips to Fulham, Manchester United and Everton as well as being thrashed 4-1 by Napoli in the Champions League.
Better bets are available in other markets but for punters looking to focus on the match result in the Arsenal v Liverpool odds then a home win looks the obvious pick at 31/20.
Goals the gameplan
The goals market looks a safer option rather than picking a winner and this has the makings of an entertaining contest.
Arsenal have won four out of four at home but are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans, who have witnessed 16 goals so far.
Liverpool have managed just two clean sheets in the league and manager Jurgen Klopp agreed with the assessment that some of the defending against Brighton was chaotic.
“If we are 100 per cent honest, it is not the first time. It is a sign that the confidence level is now not extraordinarily high,” Klopp said.
“We should defend all three goals better, no doubt about that, but in different areas, not just in the last moment. 3-3 feels like a defeat even though it is not, and we have to fight through this.”
Liverpool looked more solid in midweek as they switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation but that was against a Rangers team offering little in attack and Arsenal will be far more of a threat.
Both teams to score looks too short at 1/2 for our Arsenal v Liverpool betting tips and instead we prefer the #YourCall option of Arsenal to win or draw, both teams to score in the second half and over 2.5 goals at 7/2.
Gunners can strike early
It is in the first half when Liverpool look particularly vulnerable with six of the nine league goals they have conceded coming before the break, as have four of the five goals conceded in Europe.
In contrast, Arsenal have scored eight goals in the first 30 minutes of matches without reply so a bright start looks the key for the Gunners.
Incredibly, Liverpool are bottom of the Premier League based on first-half scores having been behind five times while Arsenal lead the way.
That makes the Gunners to win the first half at 21/10 another easy selection for our Arsenal v Liverpool betting tips or for a bigger price take 29/10 for them to be leading after 30 minutes.
Five of Arsenal’s six opening goals have been scored between 16 and 30 minutes of the match so we’ll also take a chance on 7/1 for their opener to come in the 21-30 minute period.
