Everton v Liverpool betting tips, odds and preview

Everton go into the Merseyside derby on the back of three straight draws but still looking for their first win of the season.

Liverpool followed up their 9-0 mauling of Bournemouth with a last-gasp win against Newcastle.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 12.30pm and is live on BT Sport as we pick out some Everton v Liverpool betting tips.

Toffees stuck in a rut

Everton have taken the lead in their last two matches, on the road at Brentford and Leeds, and been pegged back on both occasions.

But manager Frank Lampard took plenty of positives from the trip to Elland Road, where Anthony Gordon scored his second goal in two matches.

“With their discipline, their battle, their work-rate, they’re a running team at Leeds,” he said.

“They put pressure on the game and try to play through you and win the ball back. A lot of energy is required to match that. I thought we did it brilliantly and negated a lot of clear chances for them.

“Their goal was a half chance that goes in and then we have some really good moments in the game as well, so I’m really pleased with the spirit because it’s not an easy place to go to. I thought we played very well.”

Lampard has signed Neal Maupay from Brighton to boost his forward line and the French striker is 3/1 to find the net at any time on his debut.

But the Toffees have failed to score in four of their last six home derbies so a 2-0 away win at 6/1 begins our Everton v Liverpool betting tips.

Fab night for Klopp

Jurgen Klopp described the 2-1 win over Newcastle as “one of the best nights we ever had” but then warned his players much better will be required at Goodison Park.

Klopp’s men fell behind in the first half as Newcastle’s record signing Alexander Isak marked his debut with a goal before Roberto Firmino hauled Liverpool level on the hour mark.

It looked as though they would have to settle for another point in a stuttering start to the season but eight minutes into added time Fabio Carvalho rifled home following a goalmouth scramble and the roof came off Anfield.

“It’s a massive boost from a frustrating night,” Klopp said. “One of the best nights we ever had, that’s how football is.

“But we have to make sure we use these two days really well. The last two games we got six points but we have to improve.

“It will not be that Everton open up for us now. We know it will be tough so we have to be ready.”

Liverpool led at half-time and full-time in a 4-1 win on their visit to Goodison Park last season and a repeat at 11/10 appeals here.

The Reds have hit 11 goals in two matches yet Mohamed Salah has not scored one of them.

The Egyptian is 3/1 to be the first goalscorer in the derby.

Everton v Liverpool meetings

Liverpool won both meetings last season, 2-0 at Anfield and 4-1 across Stanley Park.

Salah scored twice at Goodison last term and is 9/2 to repeat the trick.

Everton forward Gordon is 4/1 to take his goalscoring streak to three in three matches.
