Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips: Eagles bid to end derby jinx

| 06.09.2021

Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

Premier League leaders Spurs face a London derby with the Eagles, who seek their first win under Patrick Vieira, as we look at the odds to find some Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips.

Tottenham have won each of their three top-flight games 1-0 this season while Palace drew 2-2 with West Ham at the London Stadium, halting their 100 per cent record, last time out.

Saturday’s match, which takes place at Selhurst Park, kicks off at 12.30pm BST and is live on BT Sport.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham match odds

Palace were fortunate to twice peg back West Ham, who should have been out of sight at the interval.

Palace had just two shots on target in the 90 minutes but both resulted in goals from on-loan Chelsea man Conor Gallagher.

That gave Palace their second point of the season following a 3-0 opening-day loss at Chelsea and a 0-0 home draw with Brentford.

Palace have failed to win any of their previous 11 London derbies (D6 L5) and are 17/5 to beat Spurs in the Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips.

Vieira’s side have managed fewer shots (20) and fewer shots on target (five) than any other team in the Premier League this season and Tottenham are 2/1 to win to nil.

However, Palace have signed Odsonne Edouard from Celtic in a bid to bolster their attack.

Spurs have started a league campaign with three wins and three clean sheets for the first time in their history following respective 1-0 victories over Manchester City, Wolves and Watford.

They bid to become only the fifth side to begin a top-flight campaign with four wins and no goals conceded and featured in our Premier League winner odds before the season began.

Spurs are 5/6 to win at Selhurst Park, which would be their fifth consecutive Premier League victory – something they have not achieved since December 2018.

Palace and Spurs each drew eight of their 38 Premier League games last season and the draw is on offer at 12/5 this time.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham head-to-head

Crystal Palace are winless in their last 12 Premier League meetings with Spurs (D2 L10) since a 2-1 victory in January 2015.

The Eagles have scored just four goals in that run, failing to find the net on eight occasions.

The odds for Palace to either win or draw the game in the Double Chance market are 10/11 in the Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips.

Tottenham have only failed to score in one of their 12 Premier League away games against Palace (W7 D3 L2) – a 3-0 defeat in January 2005.

Spurs have netted exactly once in each of their last five league games at Selhurst Park and it is 11/2 they win 1-0.

Nine of the last 12 meetings saw one team fail to score, although the last three clashes had both sides netting. It is 20/23 for each to score and 3/1 for Tottenham to win but concede.

Two of the last 12 encounters had three goals or more scored and the odds are 8/11 there will be fewer than three total goals this time.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham team news

New Palace signings Will Hughes and Odsonne Edouard are available, while summer addition Michael Olise is fit again after a back injury and could make his first appearance.

Captain Luka Milivojevic is in contention having missed the opening weeks of the season, but Jeffrey Schlupp (hamstring), Nathan Ferguson and Ebere Eze (both Achilles) are ruled out.

Son Heung-min is a doubt for Tottenham after picking up an injury while away with South Korea.

Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Giovani Lo Celso will not feature as they are quarantining after travelling to South America for international duty last week.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham key battles

With Harry Kane now fit and firing, Palace’s defence will be severely tested.

Kane has scored 38 goals in Premier League London derby matches and has been involved in 12 goals in 14 Premier League games against Palace (seven goals, five assists), including six in seven at Selhurst Park.

He is 21/20 to score at any time and 5/1 to bag two or more.

Strike-partner Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s Mr Reliable.

If they need a win, no-one has scored more winning goals (eight) in the Premier League since the start of last season than the South Korean.

The odds for Son to net at any time are 8/5 in the Crystal Palace v Tottenham betting tips.
