Crystal Palace v Arsenal betting tips: Hodgson set for Selhurst farewell
Preview and odds for Wednesday’s Premier League match
Boyhood Crystal Palace fan Roy Hodgson will take charge of his final match at Selhurst Park when Arsenal are the visitors.
Hodgson announced on Tuesday morning he will retire at the end of the season and Palace will be keen for their manager to go out on a high.
That adds extra significance to a game which has little riding on it, with Arsenal having scant hope of squeezing into the European places.
Wednesday’s match is live on BT Sport and kicks off at 7.00pm as we highlight a few potential Crystal Palace v Arsenal betting tips.
Crystal Palace v Arsenal match odds
Two wins from the last three matches mean Palace begin the final week of the season in a creditable 13th place in the table, having come from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Sunday.
They head to Liverpool on the final day so the visit of Arsenal looks their best chance to secure at least one more win for their departing boss, although the bookmakers do not rate their chances with Palace 11/2 for victory.
Arsenal are ending the season in good form but their run of three straight wins looks too little, too late in terms of getting into Europe.
Crystal Palace v Arsenal head-to-head
These two teams have been well matched in recent seasons despite Arsenal enjoying the better position in the table.
Four of the last five meetings have ended in a draw, with the only exception being Palace’s 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium in April 2019.
January’s goalless draw in north London ended a run of six successive meetings which have produced goals at both ends.
Arsenal: Leno, Tierney, Gabriel, Holding, Mari, Saka, Odegaard, Partey, Elneny, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang.
The trickery of Wilfried Zaha will cause problems for Arsenal’s defence and Luka Milivojevic could be the one to benefit, having scored four goals in the last six meetings including three penalties.
They must find a find a way past Bernd Leno, though, with the Arsenal goalkeeper conceding just one goal in his last three matches including clean sheets against Villarreal and Chelsea.
