Preview and odds for Sunday’s match

The season is set to end in disappointment for both Arsenal and West Brom ahead of Sunday’s meeting at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have played in a European competition in each of the last 24 seasons but that run looks set to end after a poor Premier League campaign and Thursday’s Europa League exit.

West Brom’s relegation is set to be confirmed and a defeat means they are down regardless of results elsewhere this weekend.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 7pm and is live on BT Sport. Here we assess the form of both teams to help pick out the best Arsenal v West Brom betting tips.

Arsenal v West Brom match odds

Arsenal are yet to record the same result in back-to-back Premier League games since suffering two successive defeats at Wolves and Aston Villa in early February.

They have failed to win two successive league games since January but are 1/2 favourites to end that streak here, having beaten Newcastle 2-0 last weekend.

The Gunners kept another clean sheet against Villarreal on Thursday but the 0-0 draw meant they lost 2-1 on aggregate to former manager Unai Emery’s men.

Arsenal are 29/20 to win to nil but West Brom have found their shooting boots recently with 11 goals in their last five games and both teams to score is available at 17/20.

Semi Ajayi, West Brom

West Brom have lost on each of their last seven visits to the Emirates Stadium, last avoiding defeat in 2010 when they won 3-2 with all the goals coming in the second half.

Worryingly for the Baggies, Arsenal’s biggest win of the season was in the reverse fixture in January as they cruised to a 4-0 victory at the Hawthorns.

Alexandre Lacazette’s second-half brace added to excellent strikes from Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka.

“This is as close as it gets to what we want,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta after the game. “This is an Arsenal team with the idea I want.”

“There were certain moments when we were very close to that. The players had the handbrake off and you can see they are free to play.”

Arsenal are spluttering along at the moment though and West Brom may attract some interest at 6/1 for the win and 17/10 to avoid defeat.

Previous XI

Arsenal vs West Brom - Football tactics and formations

Arsenal: Leno, Bellerin, Tierney, Holding, Mari, Saka, Odegaard, Partey, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Pepe.

West Brom: Johnstone, Furlong, Bartley, Ajayi, Townsend, O’Shea, Gallagher, Maitland-Niles, Yokuslu, Pereira, Diagne.

Team news

Granit Xhaka could feature for the Gunners after missing the Villarreal game after complaining of a tight muscle in the warm-up. Dani Ceballos is available after a ban but David Luiz (hamstring) is still likely to be out.

West Brom will be without on-loan midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is unable to face his parent club. Branislav Ivanovic, Robert Snodgrass and Kieran Gibbs remain on the sidelines.

Key battles

On their day Arsenal clearly have the firepower to blow West Brom away, as they did in January, but they struggled to create chances against Villarreal.

Much of the pressure is on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for goals with support from Nicolas Pepe and Emile Smith Rowe, although Arteta has the option to start with Lacazette, Willian, Eddie Nketiah or Gabriel Martinelli after they all came off the bench on Thursday.

Arsenal’s defence must be mindful of Matheus Pereira, who has been one of the positives for West Brom this season and has four goals in his last five games. He is 5/2 to be on target on Sunday and 13/2 to open the scoring.
