Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

The Premier League’s bottom two meet on Saturday seeking their first win of the season so we examine the odds to find some Arsenal v Norwich betting tips.

The Gunners have yet to score in the Premier League this term, conceding nine goals, while promoted Norwich have allowed 10 goals but have at least managed to net once – albeit from the penalty spot.

Saturday’s match, which takes place at the Emirates Stadium, kicks off at 3pm BST.

Arsenal v Norwich match odds

Arsenal could not wish for a more convenient opponent to face after failing to score in any of their games against Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Gunners have bagged at least three goals in six of their last seven home league games against Norwich, winning 4-0 in July 2020 in their last such meeting.

It may be early in the campaign but Mikel Arteta is already under severe scrutiny.

Arsenal are 1/2 to beat the Canaries and history is on their side having only once lost their first four league games – in the 1923/24 season.

They have also never failed to score in any of their opening four games of the season.

The Gunners have been blanked just once in the last 14 meetings with Norwich and the odds for Arsenal to win to nil are 33/20 in the Arsenal v Norwich betting tips.

Norwich have had a tough start upon their return to the Premier League, losing to Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester – all teams who are expected to compete for Champions League spots.

But the fact remains the Canaries have lost their last 13 Premier League matches by an aggregate score of 34-2 and they are also winless in their last 23 top-flight matches played in London (D6 L17) since a 2-1 victory at Spurs in April 2012.

Norwich are 11/2 to win at Arsenal for the first time since 1992 while it is 16/5 for the game to be drawn.

Arsenal v Norwich head-to-head

Since winning 4-2 at Highbury in their first Premier League match in August 1992, Norwich are winless in eight away league games against Arsenal (D2 L6), conceding 24 goals in that run.

Indeed, Arsenal have lost just two of their 18 Premier League meetings with Norwich (W9 D7) and are unbeaten in seven against the Canaries since a 1-0 loss in October 2012.

The Canaries have managed to score at least once in six of their last eight trips to Arsenal and it is 2/1 for Arsenal to win but concede.

Both sides have found the net in 10 of their last 14 meetings in all competitions and it is 3/4 this is the case again.

Likewise, 10 of the last 14 encounters have yielded three goals or more and the odds for this to happen once more are 4/6 in the Arsenal v Norwich betting tips.

Arsenal v Norwich team news

Arsenal have Thomas Partey ankle) available for the first time this season, but Mohamed Elneny (hamstring) and Granit Xhaka (suspended) are missing.

Central defensive pair Ben White (Covid) and Gabriel Magalhaes (knee), and Eddie Nketiah (ankle) are in contention to play.

New signing Takehiro Tomiyasu could make his debut after gaining his work permit.

Norwich will give late fitness checks to American forward Joshua Sargent and Greek winger Christos Tzolis (calf).

Full-back Dimitris Giannoulis (back) and centre-half Christoph Zimmermann (ankle) are both out. New signings Ozan Kabak and Mathias Normann could both be involved.

Arsenal v Norwich key battles

Arsenal have had a few players missing in their opening three games but are likely to have several key players back, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has scored four goals in his two Premier League games against Norwich, netting a brace in both meetings with the Canaries in 2019-20.

Aubameyang is 11/10 to score at any time and 5/1 to grab two or more goals, and Daniel Farke’s side appear to have some defensive weaknesses to overcome.

After keeping a clean sheet in each of his first two Premier League appearances against Arsenal, Norwich keeper Tim Krul has conceded in each of his last eight against the Gunners (22 in total) and it is 33/20 for Arsenal to win to nil.
