Arsenal v Brighton betting tips: Euro hope still alive for Gunners
Preview and odds for Sunday’s match
Arsenal remain in the hunt for Europa Conference League qualification but must beat Brighton and hope Tottenham and Everton drop points if they are to claim seventh place.
Brighton have much less to play for but proved they are still battling after coming from 2-0 down to beat champions Manchester City on Tuesday night.
Sunday’s match kicks off at 4pm as we highlight a few potential Arsenal v Brighton betting tips.
Arsenal v Brighton match odds
Arsenal have much more at stake in their final match so it is understandable they are odds-on favourites at 4/6.
That is also a reflection of their recent form with Mikel Arteta’s men enjoying four straight wins to stay in contention for a European consolation prize.
They made hard work of it against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, though. Christian Benteke’s second-half header had got the Eagles back on level terms but Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe struck in stoppage time to earn the visitors a 3-1 victory.
Willian also scored in injury time in the recent 3-1 win against West Brom while Eddie Nketiah produced a last-gasp equaliser against Fulham last month, with Arsenal available at 10/11 to win the second half.
Brighton have a much better goal difference than the teams around them so could potentially climb three places on the final day with a win, which they are 9/2 to achieve while the draw is 29/10.
Arsenal v Brighton head-to-head
Brighton have had the better of Arsenal since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017.
The Seagulls have come out on top in three of the seven meetings while two have been drawn.
Arsenal won the most recent encounter, though, which was at the Amex Stadium just after Christmas when substitute Alexandre Lacazette made an instant impact in a 1-0 victory.
Lacazette, dropped to the bench to accommodate recalled captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, coolly bagged the second-half winner just 21 seconds after replacing Martinelli.
Another 1-0 win for Arsenal this weekend can be backed at 6/1.
Previous XI
Arsenal: Leno, Tierney, Gabriel, Holding, Chambers, Saka, Partey, Elneny, Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Pepe.
Brighton: Sanchez, White, Webster, Burn, Bissouma, Mac Allister, Gross, Moder, Jahanbakhsh, Alzate, Welbeck.
Key battles
Brighton’s back three of Ben White, Adam Webster and Dan Burn will have a tough afternoon trying to cope with the likes of Pepe, who has scored six goals in his last 10 appearances including three in his last two.
Pepe is 4/1 to open the scoring and 6/4 to be on target once more but the Brighton defence are a threat themselves from set-pieces.
Webster and Burn were on the scoresheet against Manchester City while Lewis Dunk opened the scoring in the previous away game at Wolves prior to his red card.
