The crazy Premier League season delivered another unforgettable weekend of action, with plenty of impressive individual performances.

Champions Liverpool left it late against West Ham to reclaim top spot, while Manchester City and Tottenham also enjoyed cagey wins.

At the bottom, Fulham recorded their first victory of the season against fellow strugglers West Brom, while Manchester United suffered a home defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

But which players impressed most over the weekend? We’ve picked out four star performers from another thrilling round of fixtures.

Hakim Ziyech

Following his summer move from Ajax, Ziyech has had to bide his time to make an impression in a Chelsea shirt. But the Moroccan winger looked part of the furniture as he shone in his first Premier League start.

Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners at Burnley on Saturday and it was Ziyech who opened the scoring, firing a low shot past Nick Pope after 26 minutes.

Kurt Zouma headed home his third goal of the season in the second half and seven minutes later they had a third as Ziyech’s clever through ball allowed Timo Werner to wrap up the victory.

James Ward-Prowse

Aston Villa and Southampton played out a seven-goal thriller on Sunday but the scoreline flattered the hosts after the Saints dominated proceedings, leading 4-0 after less than an hour.

Birthday boy Ward-Prowse was the star of the show as his inch-perfect delivery allowed Jannik Vestergaard to head home the opener.

The Southampton captain’s set-piece delivery was flawless at Villa Park and he fired two direct free-kicks past Emiliano Martinez in the first half, before Danny Ings made it four after the break.

Villa threatened Southampton with a late fightback but it was too little too late as Ward-Prowse turned 26 in style.

Jamie Vardy

Like a fine wine, Vardy seems to get better with age and the 33-year-old has started the new campaign in style after landing last season’s Golden Boot.

Leicester shocked new boys Leeds as they thumped them 4-1 last night, with Vardy supplying assists for Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans in the first half.

The striker bagged his seventh Premier League goal of the season in the second half and would likely have made it two had he not been substituted before Leicester were awarded a late penalty.

Gabriel

For years, Arsenal have been crying out for an accomplished centre-back to transform their leaky backline and re-establish them as a side that can challenge the Premier League’s elite.

And judging by Gabriel’s performance in Sunday’s win over Manchester United, they may have found their man. The summer signing was imperious at Old Trafford, nullifying the threat of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood while operating calmly in possession.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty delivered Arsenal their first win at United in 14 years and the Gunners finally look to have some stability at both ends of the pitch.

Cast your vote

So, there we have it. Honourable mentions go to two-goal Newcastle hero Callum Wilson, as well as Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish, who so nearly helped his side to an unlikely comeback against Southampton.

But we can only pick four and the final decision is in your hands. Who gets your vote? Let us know in our poll.
