Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

The Clarets are staring down the barrel of relegation as they get set to welcome the champions on Saturday afternoon and we have Burnley v Manchester City betting tips for all the action.

City have seen their lead at the top of the Premier League table shrunk to just one point and by the time this match kicks off could have slipped to second in the standings.

However, they are the 2/9 favourites for this all-north west clash and Pep Guardiola’s men could quickly reclaim their place on top spot if winning this contest. Burnley, meanwhile, are shackled to the relegation zone and are a huge 14/1 to cause a shock on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s game at Turf Moor kicks off at 3pm.

Visitors looking to entertain

Although unbeaten in six in all competitions, City will have been delighted to return to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup following back-to-back goalless draws.

The share of the spoils with Crystal Palace when last in Premier League action has seen their Premier League dominance end and they are now well and truly involved in a title race.

With the distraction of midweek Champions League football also at the forefront of Guardiola’s mind it will be interesting to see who lines up for the Citizens at Turf Moor, although whoever takes to the field, the quality is unlikely to drop too much.

They can get back to winning ways in the Premier League against a side in rotten form and it is 17/10 for City to win a game involving three or more goals. It is 17/20 for the visitors to score in both halves, while they can also be backed at 17/4 to find the net within the first 10 minutes in Burnley v Manchester City betting tips.

Riyad Mahrez is favourite to grab the first goal of the game at 3/1, while Raheem Sterling, fresh from starring for England in midweek, isn’t too far behind in the first scorer odds at 10/3.

Turbulent times at Turf Moor

The Clarets have been in the top flight since 2016-17 but their stay in the Premier League has never been in as much danger as it is this season.

Having briefly looked to be on the path to safety following wins over Brighton and Spurs, they have taken just one point from their last four and lost to relegation rivals Brentford most recently.

They are now four points away from 17th and will need positive results from their two games in hand to avoid the drop at 4/7 in our Premier League relegation odds

Sean Dyche’s side have won just twice at Turf Moor this season and, having drawn a blank in three of their last four at home, are 3/4 to fail to trouble the scorers once again.

Burnley’s survival hopes could depend on January signing Wout Weghorst’s proficiency in front of goal in the latter stages of the season and he could be the Clarets’ best hope of causing the City defence some problems.

The Netherlands international has scored just the once so far since arriving in Lancashire, but he is 4/1 to add to his tally at any time in Burnley v Manchester City betting tips.

Head-to-head

Manchester City are looking to make it 10 victories in a row against Burnley and it has been over seven years since the Clarets last got the better of the Citizens thanks to a 1-0 victory here at Turf Moor.

That scoreline is an unlikely 33/1 this time, but what is more probable is a third straight 2-0 success for the visitors and that is 5/1 in Burnley v Manchester City betting tips.

City have won the last five head-to-head ties to nil and are 10/11 to do the same here, while they can extend a six-game run of scoring two or more goals against the Clarets at 1/3.

For a #YourCall option, Manchester City to win either half, to score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet appeals at 5/4, with City to win both halves, score over 2.5 goals and again keep a clean sheet at 3/1 another possibility.
