Preview and odds for Thursday’s Europa League clash

These two teams are the joint-11/1 favourites to win the Europa League and we have looked at the odds to bring you some Leicester v Napoli betting tips.

The Foxes reached the last 32 of this competition last season before going down 2-0 at home to Slavia Prague after a goalless first leg while Napoli were ousted at the same stage, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Granada.

Thursday’s game takes place at the King Power Stadium and is live on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate, with an 8pm BST kick-off.

Leicester v Napoli match odds

Leicester will be kicking themselves that they were again pipped for a Champions League spot on the final day of the Premier League season for the second year in succession.

Despite their favourites tag, they will not face an easy time of it in Group C, which also comprises Polish champions Legia Warsaw and Russia’s most successful club Spartak Moscow. They are 11/10 joint-favourites with Napoli to win the group, however.

The Foxes have made a solid start to the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have two wins from their opening four games, having beaten Wolves and Norwich while losing to West Ham and champions Manchester City.

The FA Cup winners are 6/5 to beat Napoli, who have only lost one of their last 15 Europa League group stage matches (W11 D3) – a 1-0 home defeat to AZ on Matchday 1 of last season’s competition.

Gli Azzurri appointed former Roma, Udinese, Zenit and Inter coach Luciano Spalletti in May after Gennaro Gattuso failed to deliver Champions League football.

Napoli finished fifth in Serie A last season, with only champions Inter Milan (89) and third-placed Atalanta (90) scoring more goals than their 86 in 38 games, and have made a good start to the new campaign.

After a solid pre-season which included a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich, they won their opening three Serie A games – against Venezia, Genoa and Juventus, when goals from Matteo Politano and Kalidou Koulibaly saw them win 2-1 on Saturday.

Napoli are 11/5 to triumph at Leicester while the draw is available at 5/2.

Lorenzo Insigne, Napoli, Leicester v Napoli betting tips

Leicester v Napoli head-to-head

This is Leicester’s first match against Napoli in European competition and their first competitive meeting against an Italian side.

If history is a guide, they may well get something from the game.

Napoli are set to face an English side for the 21st time in European competition, with Leicester the seventh different team they’ve faced.

They have never won an away European game against English opponents in 10 previous attempts (D2 L8). It is 4/11 for Leicester to win or draw the game in the Double Chance market.

Leicester have only lost two of their 13 home matches in European competition (W8 D3), though one of those was against Slavia Prague, when they lost 2-0 at the King Power and were sent spinning out of last season’s competition. They are 11/4 to win but concede.

Leicester v Napoli key battles

Napoli have conceded in eight of their last 11 competitive games while Leicester have also failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last nine such games.

It is 4/7 for both sides to score on Thursday and 12/5 for Leicester to keep a clean sheet.

Both sides have top strikers who are set to feature. Lorenzo Insigne (pictured above) got off the mark for the season with a goal in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Venezia and is 21/10 to score at any time.

Jamie Vardy struck twice in Leicester’s opening four Premier League games and is 4/1 to grab the first goal and 6/4 to score at any time in the Leicester v Napoli betting tips.
