League Two winner odds: Bradford dark horses for title
Preview of the 2021/22 League Two title race
The fourth tier of the Football League looks a typically open division heading into the 2021-22 season and we have been studying the League Two winner odds.
Rochdale, Swindon, Bristol Rovers and Northampton will hope to bounce straight back to League One following relegation last year.
Clear favourites at 6/1, boss Gary Bowyer took the Ammies to within two points of the League Two play-offs, signing off with a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient on the final day of the season.
They have made some shrewd signings, including midfielder Matty Lund, forward Conor McAleny, left-back Josh Morris and right-back Liam Shephard, and more are expected from the big-spenders who are 6/4 to be promoted.
Relegated last season, manager Joey Barton has made 10 signings thus far, including taking young attacking midfielder Sion Spence on loan from Crystal Palace.
Boss Nigel Clough has stated the Stags are unlikely to pay a transfer fee for any players in the current window but they have secured striker Rhys Oates, who netted 18 times for Hartlepool last term, and young full-back Ryan Burke’s arrival from Birmingham also looks a savvy move.
With eight summer signings and the hope of another striker on the way, manager Derek Adams has had a busy summer – and, crucially, he has rebuilt the squad early.
New boss Kenny Jacket has made five significant signings thus far in Darren Pratley, Omar Beckles, Connor Wood, Paul Smyth and Aaron Drinan but the squad is still light, even if they do sign Southend right-back Elvis Bwomono as expected.
Boss Darrell Clarke took Vale to a run of eight wins from nine at the end of last season and has given himself the option of playing a back three with the recruitment of centre-halves Dan Jones, Aaron Martin and Ryan Johnson to compete with Nathan Smith and Leon Legge.
The Grecians, who finished ninth last season, are 16/1 to win the title and 10/3 to earn promotion but manager Matt Taylor needs a few more experienced heads to go along side new recruits Sam Nombe, Callum Rowe, Jevani Brown and George Ray.
Tranmere beat Rangers 1-0 in a pre-season friendly and a couple of signings are expected to make an impact, namely striker Elliott Nevitt, who has joined from non-league side Warrington Rylands, and former West Brom winger Callum McManaman.
