Poor run of form has Mourinho under pressure

Jose Mourinho is 4-6 to not be Tottenham manager for the first game of the 2021/22 Premier League season, according to our odds.

Spurs’ Champions League hopes were further dented by a 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, leaving Mourinho’s men six points adrift of fourth placed West Ham.

Having been surprisingly knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb, even greater emphasis will be on this month’s league cup final. Tottenham are 5-2 to win the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

“The Carabao Cup final looks to be all that can save Jose’s season now after defeat to his former club, and with City hot favourites to lift the trophy we now make it odds on that Jose has left before the first game of next season,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

It’s 11-10 that Mourinho does remain in charge for the beginning of the next campaign.

Meanwhile, we have Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester all at 8-11 to finish in the top four, with West Ham further out at 15-8. Spurs are now 9-1 to finish in the Champions League places.

“Our betting still suggests West Ham are outsiders to qualify for the Champions League next season, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester all neck and neck now in our market for the two spots behind the Manchester clubs,” added Aitkenhead.
