Frida Fagerlund’s Spain v Sweden preview: Sweden will look to outrun Luis Enrique’s men
Our Matchday Squad journalist will be covering Sweden throughout Euro 2020
The two friendlies ahead of the tournament gave us some answers as to how Janne Andersson will line-up this team against Spain.
With Dejan Kulusevski being left out due to Covid-19, it will probably be Alexander Isak who joins Marcus Berg up front, although Robin Quaison is also in good shape.
The central midfield partnership looks to be Albin Ekdal and Kristoffer Olsson, with the brilliant Emil Forsberg – arguably Sweden’s best player so far – on the left wing and Sebastian Larsson on the right for extra protection.
The key message so far from the coach to his players has been to make sure they outrun the Spaniards on Monday. These teams have faced each other on several occasions in recent times so they are well aware what it will take to grab a point or three.
I wouldn’t rule Sweden out, they look lively and ready for the task despite the unwelcoming Covid-situation. The defence might still be of slight concern – it’s hard to tell whether Filip Helander or Marcus Danielson will get the nod and accompany Victor Lindelof – but the organisation should be immaculate, as per usual.
