Preview and odds for Thursday’s Europa Conference League games

The inaugural Europa Conference League group phase gets under way on Thursday so we have looked at the odds for a selection of games to find some Europa Conference League betting tips.

The 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four, with the winners progressing straight to the last 16. Group runners-up will have to play off against eight teams who drop out of the Europa League after its group stage.

Here we preview three of those Europa Conference League matches.

Rennes v Tottenham

Tottenham are the sole British club left and are 6/1 favourites to win Europe’s third-tier club competition, with the final scheduled to take place in Tirana, Albania, on May 25, 2022.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had to come through a play-off to qualify and did so readily enough, defeating Pacos de Ferreira 3-1 on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0 in Portugal.

Spurs made a solid start to the new Premier League campaign, winning each of their first three games 1-0 to top the table going into the weekend.

However, they were hammered 3-0 by Crystal Palace in Saturday’s early kick-off at Selhurst Park – hardly ideal preparation for the trip to France.

Tottenham are 11/8 to beat Rennes, who are 20/1 to win the Europa League. It is 21/10 the game ends in a draw.

Rennes have made an indifferent start to their Ligue 1 campaign, winning just one of their opening five games (D2 L2) and are 17/10 to win the clash.

Rennes failed to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at Angers when losing 2-0 at home to Reims on Sunday.

Spurs scored two goals or more in 12 of their 14 European games last season and it is 10/11 over 2.5 goals will be struck in the game.

Roma v CSKA Sofia

Roma, who are 13/2 second favourites to win this competition, have made a perfect start to their Italian Serie A campaign, winning their first three matches to top the table.

They have netted plenty of goals recently, too, putting five past Trabzonspor in the Europa Conference League qualifying play-offs over two legs (winning 5-1 on aggregate).

Four were put past Salernitana on the road and three against Fiorentina in their opening domestic games before they defeated Sassuolo 2-1 at home on Sunday with a stoppage-time winner.

Roma are 2/9 to overcome CSKA Sofia, who drew 0-0 at the Stadio Olimpico and then beat them 3-1 in Sofia during the Europa League group stage in 2020.

They also met in the Europa League group stage in 2009, when Roma won 2-0 at home and 3-0 in Sofia.

CSKA are 12/1 to win the match, having prevailed in their first three games in the Bulgarian Premier League before Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Slavia Sofia, which sees them sit sixth in the table, with the four teams directly above them having played three games more. The draw is on offer at 17/4.

NS Mura v Vitesse Arnhem

These two are also in Tottenham’s group and Vitesse are 8/13 to win, having ousted Anderlecht over two legs in the qualifying play-off. They drew 3-3 in Belgium before winning 2-1 in Arnhem.

However, Dundalk’s conquerors have been leaking a few goals of late, including being thumped 5-0 by Ajax ahead of the international break.

NS Mura, who drop into this competition having been beaten 5-1 on aggregate by Sturm Graz in the Europa League play-offs, are 18/5 to win the home leg.

The Slovenians have also been a little leaky at the back, conceding 11 goals in their previous five games.

The draw is available at 13/5 while it is 7/10 for both sides to score and the same odds for there to be three goals or more scored in total.
