Brazil v Colombia betting tips: Samba Boys put perfect record on line

| 22.06.2021

Preview and odds for the Group B game

Brazil will be aiming to maintain their perfect start at this year’s Copa America against Colombia in Rio de Janeiro.

The Samba Boys are revelling in playing on home soil again, recording convincing victories over Venezuela and Peru, while Colombia have had an inconsistent start.

Thursday’s match is live on BBC digital and kicks off at 1am as we highlight a few potential Brazil v Colombia betting tips.

Brazil v Colombia match odds

Defending champions Brazil have already secured their progression to the quarter-finals after just two games, scoring seven goals and keeping two clean sheets.

Venezuela were brushed aside 3-0 in their opener and then Peru were hammered 4-0 as the nine-time Copa America winners extended their winning run to nine matches.

Colombia began their campaign by beating Ecuador 1-0, but a goalless draw with Venezuela and a 2-1 defeat to Peru followed.

Group B leaders Brazil sit two points clear of second-placed Colombia with a game in hand and are 8/15 for a third consecutive triumph.

Colombia can be backed at 13/2 to pull off a shock win, which would be their first over Brazil since the Copa America in 2015.

Tite’s side have not conceded in their last six games and, despite three of the last four meetings against Colombia seeing both teams scoring, a Brazil win to nil is 6/5.

Both of Brazil’s outings have produced three or more goals, as did Colombia’s last match, with over 2.5 priced at 21/20, while the hosts are 17/2 to win 3-0.

Brazil v Colombia head-to-head

Brazil are unbeaten in four meetings with Colombia since that 1-0 defeat in this tournament six years ago.

The last two games involving these teams have ended in draws, 2-2 and 1-1 in 2019 and 2017 respectively, with another stalemate this time priced at 3/1.

Brazil playmaker Neymar has scored in two of his last three games against Colombia.

Previous XI

Brazil vs Colombia - Football tactics and formations
Brazil: Ederson, Danilo, Silva, Sandro, Militao, Fred, Fabinho, Jesus, Neymar, Everton, Barbosa.

Colombia: Ospina, Medina, Tesillo, Mina, Sanchez, Barrios, Cardona, Cuadrado, Perez, Zapata, Borja.

Key battles

Colombia will need to keep Neymar quiet if they are to secure a positive result.

The Paris St Germain forward, 5/4 to bag anytime and 12/5 to break the deadlock, has a good goalscoring record against Los Cafeteros and has netted in Brazil’s first two matches of this tournament.

Yerry Mina and Davinson Sanchez, of Everton and Tottenham respectively, will need to be at their best at the heart of Colombia’s defence to stop an attack also including the likes of Gabriel Barbosa, Everton, Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Jesus and Richarlison.
