Odds and preview for Champions League last-16 clash

Frank Lampard faces one of the biggest tests of his managerial career to date, as Chelsea host Bayern Munich in Champions League action.

How will his young side fare against the Bundesliga champions? Ahead of the action on BT Sport 2 at 20:00, we’ve got the pre-match odds and info…

Match Odds

Despite being the away side, Bayern are clear 10/11 favourites with our traders.

Chelsea are out at 27/10, with the draw going for 11/4.

Both teams have scored in four of Chelsea’s last five outings. There’s 11/5 about Bayern to win and BTTS here.

Form

Chelsea produced an impressive display to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at the weekend. But they’ve only won five of their last 15 Premier League games.

They’ve struggled to keep clean sheets too, despite dropping Kepa for Willy Caballero. Lampard’s team have only shut out their opponents once since the turn of the year.

That could be ominous against a Bayern side that have looked devastating in recent weeks. They’ve racked up 10 wins in their last 11 games

Likely XIs

Chelsea v Bayern teams

Chelsea will be without N’Golo Kante, so they look set to stick with three at the back to keep things solid defensively.

Olivier Giroud should also continue up front after making the most of a rare start against Spurs. With Pedro, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi not fully fit, Willian and Mason Mount should line up either side of the Frenchman.

The Bayern line-up largely picks itself at the minute, with no reason to change a side that’s purring along very nicely.

Key Battles

PA.50017616

Chelsea will need to keep a tight rein on Thiago Alcantara if they’re going to get a result. The Spanish midfielder makes things tick for Bayern, feeding the ball into their attacking stars.

The Blues’ wing-backs can pose a real threat going forward, but they’ll need to be on it defensively. Reece James has looked comfortable in the top-flight so far, but this will be a step up for the youngster.

Going forward, the hosts will look to take advantage of Giroud’s aerial prowess, especially against David Alaba.

Goalscorer Odds

Robert Lewandowski has already hit 10 Champions League goals this season. It’s no surprise that he’s 12/5 favourite to open the scoring, or 4/6 to net anytime.

Former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry scored four goals against Spurs on his last return to London. We go 17/10 that he nets in the capital again tonight.

For Chelsea, Giroud is 9/2 to grab the first goal and 13/8 as an anytime scorer. Pedro could also be one to watch at 7/2 anytime.
