Champions League betting tips: Milan on a mission in Madrid
Preview and odds for Wednesday’s Champions League group games
The group phase continues with matchday five this week and we have looked at some possible Champions League betting tips for Wednesday’s games.
Here, though, we preview a trio of the other big Champions League games, starting in Spain.
Atletico Madrid v AC Milan
AC Milan lost their first three matches in Group B before finally picking up their first point with a 1-1 home draw against Porto but incredibly can still qualify for the last 16.
They must return from the Spanish capital with three points to keep their hopes alive but they are 9/2 to do so.
Their confidence will not have been helped by a 4-3 defeat at Fiorentina on Saturday which ended their unbeaten start to the Serie A season.
Atletico lost back-to-back games against group winners Liverpool but are 4/6 to get the win which would keep their destiny in their own hands ahead of next month’s trip to Porto.
Diego Simeone’s men won 2-1 in Milan and a home win with goals at both ends is an option for Champions League betting tips at 12/5.
FC Sheriff v Real Madrid
Sheriff caused one of the biggest Champions League upsets when they beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu on matchday two.
Jasur Yakhshiboev headed the Moldovan outfit into the lead in the 25th minute but Los Blancos were level through a second-half penalty by Karim Benzema.
The visitors, though, snatched all three points with just a minute left when Sebastien Thill drove the ball into the top corner from 20 yards to leave the Bernabeu in stunned silence.
Sporting Lisbon v Borussia Dortmund
These two teams are level on six points in Group C and battling to go through to the last 16 along with Ajax, who have dominated the group with four wins out of four.
There has yet to be a draw in any of the eight matches in this group and the momentum is very much with Sporting heading into this fixture.
They were thrashed 5-1 at home by Ajax in their opener and Donyell Malen’s first-half goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat in Dortmund but they have bounced back by taking six points off Besiktas, scoring eight goals in the process.
Dortmund’s two defeats against Ajax have allowed Sporting to pull level so this has the makings of a thriller and the bookies are struggling to split them, with Sporting 8/5 for the win and Dortmund 33/20.
Backing goals may be a better bet in Champions League betting tips and both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win is priced at 5/4 in the #YourCall market while a goal in both halves and draw is 5/1.
