Champions League betting tips: Defending champions aiming to breeze through to last eight

| 14.03.2022

Preview and odds for the Champions League last-16 games

The Champions League knockout stage continues this week with the remaining last-16 ties drawing to a conclusion and we have Champions League betting tips for both matches on Wednesday evening.

Chelsea were the only side to hold a first-leg lead and will be looking to hammer home their advantage in France, while it could be a nervy night in Turin where Juventus host Villarreal.

Both fixtures kick off at 8pm and are live on BT Sport.

Lille v Chelsea

Chelsea face their first European away day since sanctions were imposed on the club and they will be hoping to extend their 12-game unbeaten run (in 90 minutes) on this trip across the channel.

The Blues are 2-0 up following the first leg and are 10/11 for a win on the road and extremely short at 1/25 to make the last eight. That tells you the task Lille have on their hands to qualify and the French side are 13/4 for a win in 90 minutes and a massive 9/1 to make the quarter-finals.

Chelsea kept a clean sheet in the first leg and, having done the same in two of their last three, are 31/20 to keep it tight at the back again and 11/5 to win to nil in Champions League betting tips.

Lille have also been solid at the back since the first leg of this tie, keeping three straight clean sheets. If the respective defences cancel each other out then a draw is possible at 5/2, with a goalless stalemate priced up at 9/1.

Kai Havertz has averaged a goal a game in his last five appearances, including netting in the first leg. The Germany international is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 13/8 to find the scoresheet at anytime in Champions League betting tips.

Juventus v Villarreal

It could be a nervy night in Turin as the Old Lady battle the reigning Europa League champions with the tie locked at 1-1 after the first leg in Spain.

The Italian giants are evens for a home victory and 4/9 to reach the last eight by any means, while the visitors can be backed at 16/5 for the upset and are 13/8 in the qualification market.

Dusan Vlahovic netted in the first minute of his Champions League debut in the first leg and will be hoping to find the net once again. He is 7/2 for the first goal and 6/4 to find the back of the net at anytime in Champions League betting tips.

Juventus went in 1-0 up at the break on that occasion and it is 3/1 for that to be the score at the end of the first 45, with the hosts 33/20 to be in the lead by any scoreline.

If this breaks out into an open contest then there could be some value in both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win at 15/8 as a #YourCall option.
