Champions League Betting Preview: Will Man City and Liverpool secure last-16 spots?
Odds and preview for tonight’s European action
There are eight more Champions League games to look forward to tonight, with qualification now within reach for the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Ahead of the action, we’ve previewed tonight’s best ties, including the previously-mentioned Premier League sides, as well as Inter Milan vs Real Madrid.
Olympiakos v Man City (17:55)
Man City weren’t at their best for much of last season, but few would have predicted them to be 13th after eight games of the new Premier League season.
They’ve fared much better in Europe this term, with three wins from three, nine goals scored and only one conceded.
City are clear 2/7 favourites to win and secure their progress here, while 7/1 says we see a repeat of their 3-0 victory from the reverse fixture. Olympiakos have only scored one goals in their three group-stage fixtures so far – a City win to nil is an even-money shot.
Sergio Agüero should return to the starting line-up here to add a much-needed cutting edge. City’s record goalscorer is 14/5 to score first, with Ferran Torres 13/8 to add to his haul of three European goals.
Liverpool v Atalanta (20:00)
Liverpool should welcome back Mohamed Salah here, though they’ll still be without several key players. That didn’t cause them many problems in their 3-0 win over Leicester though – our traders have them as 8/13 favourites to win and seal qualification.
Atalanta can play stunning football at their best, but they’ve struggled to recapture last season’s form.
The Bergamo-based club have only won one of their last six outings – a run that includes a 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool. It’s 5/2 for a Liverpool win to nil here too.
Diego Jota could be one to watch – he got a hat-trick in the previous game between these sides and has netted in four games at Anfield in a row. He’s 11/10 to score, with Salah leading the way at 10/11 anytime or 10/3 as First Goalscorer.
Inter Milan v Real Madrid (20:00)
Neither side can afford to lose this one. Inter are bottom of Group B on two points, with third-placed Madrid on four points. With leaders Borussia Monchengladbach on five points, a win for either side could turn their European campaign around.
With Sergio Ramos suspended and doubts over Karim Benzema, Inter are 6/5 favourites to get their first win of the group stage. Madrid are at 11/5 and there’s 27/10 about the draw.
Zinedine Zidane’s side were 3-2 winners when they faced each other in their last European game and neither side has kept a clean sheet this month. Expecting more goals? Inter and Both Teams to Score is 5/2. Over 3.5 Goals is 27/20.
Romelu Lukaku was absent at the Bernabeu but he could be the key man here. The Belgium international is 10/3 to open the scoring.
In Benzema’s absence, Mariano looks set to lead the line for the visitors. He’s 7/4 to get on the scoresheet.
