Preview and odds for Tuesday’s Europa League clash

Celtic bid to kick-start their Europa League group campaign with a win so we have looked at the odds to find some Celtic v Ferencvarosi betting tips.

The Scottish side have conceded eight goals in two games in Group G and the visitors have also lost their first two fixtures, so neither can afford defeat.

Tuesday’s game takes place at Celtic Park and is live on BT Sport 1, with a 3.30pm kick-off.

Celtic v Ferencvarosi match odds

Celtic went into the weekend trailing Rangers by six points in the Scottish Premiership and it is clear from their recent European outings former Australia manager Ange Postecoglu has a tough job on his hand.

Any doubt this season was anything other than a rebuilding phase was underlined in the Hoops’ first two Europa League games.

Having slipped to a 4-3 defeat at Real Betis in the opening game, they were then thumped 4-0 at home by Bayer Leverkusen on matchday two.

They sit bottom of the group and have plenty of headway to make up on both those two opponents if they are to reach the knockout phase.

Celtic are 4/6 to win this tie, however. Yet the fact remains they have lost five of their last six Europa League matches (W1), conceding exactly four goals in each of those defeats.

They have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 14 matches in the competition. It is 6/4 they manage that this time.

Ferencvarosi also lost their first two games, going down 2-1 at Leverkusen before being tamed 3-1 at home by Real Betis.

The Hungarian side are 4/1 to win and have lost each of their last three away matches in all European competitions.

They have not lost four successive away games in Europe since 1973 and while the odds for a draw are 14/5, the visitors are 23/20 to win or draw the game in the Double Chance market in the Celtic v Ferencvarosi betting tips.

Celtic v Ferencvarosi head-to-head

Celtic and Ferencvarosi have met just once before in European competition, with the Hungarians winning 2-1 in a Champions League qualifying match in August 2020.

It is 14/1 they win 2-1 on the road this time.

The visitors have won three of their four matches against Scottish opponents in European competition (L1), with each win coming against a different side: Rangers in 1960, Hearts in 2004 and Celtic in 2020.

Before suffering a 4-0 defeat to Leverkusen, Celtic had scored in each of their previous 16 European games at home and scored multiple goals in 11 of those 16 games.

It is 8/11 that both sides score and 4/6 Celtic grab two or more goals.

Celtic v Ferencvarosi match odds

Celtic will be wary of the threat posed by the Hungarian champions, especially since former Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Stoger has taken the helm.

In 19 competitive games, Ferencvarosi have netted 46 goals.

In addition, they’re top of the Hungarian First Division with seven wins and one defeat – including a 9-0 rout of FC Hatvan last month.

Given Celtic’s record of scoring at home in Europe, the odds of 8/11 for over 2.5 goals in the game may interest some.
