Belarusian Premier League preview: Can Energetik-BGU maintain their 100% record?
Odds and preview for this weekend’s fixtures
After the first leg of the Belarusian Cup semi-finals took place in midweek, the Vysshaya League returns with a full slate of fixtures over the UK Bank Holiday weekend.
Looking forward to the action? We’ve got the key odds and info ahead of the fourth round of matches.
Friday
There’s only one game taking place on Friday, as Neman Grodno host bottom-side Belshina Bobruisk at 17:00.
Neman lost their opening fixture to Isloch, but they’ve taken four points from six since, including a 2-0 home win over Vitebsk.
They’re 21/20 to pick up the win here, with Belshina having issues at both ends of the pitch. They’ve only scored once so far this season, while they’ve conceded the joint-most in the division (5). As the only side yet to earn a point, so it’s unsurprising that the visitors are out at 27/10.
Our traders also have a home win to nil going for 2/1.
Saturday
Saturday serves up three games, including league leader’s Energetik-BGU’s trip to Zhodino.
Energetik finished 12th last season, but they’ve surged into an early lead with three wins from three. Despite that impressive start, our traders have them at 23/10, with the hosts rated 21/20 to bounce back from last week’s loss to Torpedo with a win.
Both of Zhodino’s victories this term have been by a 1-0 scoreline. We go 6/1 that a single goal is enough to take the points for them again.
Second-placed Slutsk are also 5/4 favourites at home to Vitebsk in the early game at 12:00. With both sides on six points, the draw is going for 19/10.
Then at 16:00, Dinamo Minsk are 3/4 to win away at Gorodeya.
Sunday
It’s been a dreadful start to the season for BATE Borisov. After seeing their 13-year hold of the title end last term, they’ve lost two of their opening three fixtures.
They also lost the first leg of their Belarusian Cup semi-final to Slavia Mozyr on Wednesday.
But our traders think they could turn things around at Minsk. BATE are an even-money shot to get a much-needed win at 13:00.
At 15:00, we’ve got Shakhtar Soligorsk (4/7) up against Wigwam Smolevichy (19/4), before defending champions Dinamo Brest (7/10) face Isloch (18/5) at 17:00.
Monday
There’s a sole fixture on Easter Monday, as Slavia Mozyr take on FC Ruh Brest. Only a point separated these two in the table last season, but the home side’s stronger start to the new season gives them the edge in the betting.
We’ve got Mozyr at 11/10, with the visitors back at 23/10.
