France, Belgium and Portugal feature in our October 7 World Cup qualifier tips
Published:Five World Cup qualifier tips
The international break is here and has set up an intriguing few fixtures for punters to get their teeth into.
From Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo-led Euro 2016 champions to a tasty Greece v Cyprus matchup, Coral writers have picked out five fantastic bets including Portugal World Cup qualifier tips…
Portugal to maul minnows
The European champions have a superb record against Andorra, having a 100 per cent win record over them. In their last three wins in this encounter, they’ve done it 4-0, 3-0, then finally with a 7-1 smashing.
Combine this with the fact that Portugal recently beat Gibraltar 5-0, and a 5/1 punt on the Navigators emulating the result looks great value.
Portugal’s leader Cristiano Ronaldo is back in training and looks set for an international return after driving his nation on from the touchline at the Euro final.
The Real Madrid star scored six in Euro qualifying and will look to add to his record national tally by filling his boots against minnows Andorra.
Les Bleus can blast Bulgaria
France has only lost one international game this calendar year and possess an almost unrivalled squad brimming with talent.
With the likes of the world’s most expensive player Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet lining the ranks of Didier Deschamps’ side, it’s a daunting prospect.
France should routinely beat the Bulgarians, but recent history shows they should get on the scoresheet in a French win.
In six of France’s eight wins over the Lions Bulgaria have found the net, and are 5/2 to emulate history at the Stade de France by netting in a French triumph.
Red Devils to be held to stalemate
Roberto Martinez’s Belgium tenure got of to a shaky start with a convincing defeat to Spain, so Bosnia and Herzegovina should fancy their chances of collecting at least a point.
Their cause for optimism is compounded by an impressive record against the Belgian Red Devils. Belgium have only beaten them once in the last five games, while the Dragons have won three of the encounters.
Bosnia and Herzegovina come into the fixture in good form, having won their last three outings.
Expect a tough fought draw at the King Baudouin Stadium at a generous 7/2.
Greece to score goals galore
Michael Skibbe’s men have only lost three times in the 27 game history of this fixture and have won the last three meetings against Cyprus.
In Greece’s previous 10 wins over the Cypriots, they have netted two or more in each of the outings.
Skibbe’s side netted four in their previous World Cup qualifying outing, while Cyprus have conceded three twice in their last four games.
Therefore, Greece scoring three or more goals at 21/10 with Coral looks great value.
White Wings to hold Danny Blind’s Dutch
The Netherlands have been in poor form for a few years now and missed out on qualifying for Euro 2016.
Meanwhile, Belarus have been quietly recording decent results and boast a good record against the Dutch.
Belarus beat the Netherlands last time out and are unbeaten in their last three games, including a win over the Republic of Ireland and an impressive draw against France.
Danny Blind’s Dutch, meanwhile, are winless in their last two outings, featuring an embarrassing loss to Greece.
Because of this, back Belarus to get a point in Amsterdam at 5/1.
