EFL Cup quarter-finals tips for Tuesday and Wednesday

The League Cup returns to TV screens this week to provide punters with majestic midweek entertainment. There are just eight teams left in it now, with all from England’s top two divisions, so enjoy Coral’s EFL Cup quarter-finals tips for Tuesday and Wednesday’s matches.

There are Liverpool v Leeds United bets to take, as well as handpicked Man Utd v West Ham United odds. And, as if that wasn’t enough to tempt you, we also have a recommended EFL Cup acca…

Divock Origi to score first and Liverpool win

First up it’s the mouthwatering match-up that is Liverpool v Leeds, a clash that has not occurred since a League Cup collision back in 2009.

The Reds may not play their usual starting XI with Premier League duties to worry about, but should still have more than enough in their armoury to upset their West Yorkshire guests, who were recently outclassed by Newcastle United.

Liverpool needed Divock Origi to break the deadlock for them at the weekend and, with Philippe Coutinho likely out injured and Sadio Mane looking in need of a rest, this could be the promising Belgian’s chance to shine.

So, there is a plum price of 14/5 for Origi to open the scoring for the second consecutive game and Liverpool beat Leeds in 90 minutes. Value.

Newcastle to beat Hull

Despite Hull City being the top-flight team in this tussle, it is Newcastle that are performing with attacking class as they look a cert for promotion back to the PL, with the Tigers seemingly likely for the drop.

Mike Phelan’s men rallied to a spirited draw last time out on league duty, while the Magpies stumbled. But, there’s no getting away from the depth on the Tyneside team’s bench.

It’s not often you’ll find Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle boys anything but odds-on to win this term, so simply take advantage of their 6/5 price for road trip success in normal time here.

Arsenal to best Saints and both score

This should be a truly tasty scuffle, as Southampton journey up from the south coast to the capital. Arsenal toppled Saints’ local rivals Bournemouth at the weekend 3-1, with their attack overcoming a few defensive wobbles.

The Londoners are unbeaten at the Emirates across all competitions for a run of 10 matches, but have conceded in all of their last six outings whether home or away.

So, with that in mind, plus the fact that an earlier league meeting this season saw the Gunners beat Saints with both teams on target, back Arsenal for victory in 90 mins and the two teams to each score again at a tempting 12/5.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic first home team scorer in Man Utd v West Ham odds

Jose Mourinho has shown his will to win in this competition as he chases his first silverware with the Red Devils, which was illustrated as the Portuguese fielded a strong side versus Manchester City in the previous round.

There will surely be changes from the weekend Premier League encounter with West Ham, as United welcome the Hammers back to Old Trafford for the second time in four days, but perhaps not too many.

Man Utd were all over the Irons in that encounter, but failed to bag more than a point, so should be revved up to set that straight and come away with the spoils this time.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in form for the Mancunians, having forced an own goal and scored another in his past two outings. As the sole scorer in Utd red against West Ham on Sunday he could be called upon again and, if the big Swede does play, he is 2/1 to be first home team scorer in 90 minutes.
