Five young stars lighting up the Bundesliga this season

Talents from BVB, Leipzig, and Monchengladbach included

It has been a tremendous start to the 2017-18 Bundesliga season with just three points separating the top five sides.

Bayern Munich lead – obviously – with Borussia Dortmund, Augsburg and Hannover 96 just two points behind.

Since a revolutionary reboot after a disastrous Euro 2000, German football clubs have been producing gifted youngsters by the bucket-load.

And that’s not to mention the talented youths being brought in from overseas to develop in their much-vaunted academies.

The Coral News Team take a look at the top five young talents impressing so far this season.

Christian Pulisic

Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old prodigy has been tearing it up this season.

While the USMNT international has just a goal and assist to his name in four appearances to date, it is his overall play that has been so eye-catching.

His ability to play between the lines, his vision and passing ability are all top class. The Pennsylvanian native will only get better.

Timo Werner

RB Leipzig shelling out just £8m for Werner last summer should prove to be one of the best value deals in Bundesliga history.

The 21-year-old is now valued at around £25m. In today’s market, Leipzig will be able to at least double that figure should they wish to sell.

With four goals in five league games, the Germany international has already been courted by Liverpool and Real Madrid.

It will be a major surprise if he’s still in Saxony next summer.

Naby Keita

When it comes to Bundesliga football, it would be difficult to leave Keita out of any top player list.

The Leipzig midfielder has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool in which he’ll move to Anfield this summer.

The Guinea international has been a revelation in Saxony. At just 22-years-old, he is a proper throwback with an ability to do it all.

He can go box-to-box, tackle, pass it, dribble, and shoot. With a goal and an assist from four league appearances, Keita will be vital to Leipzig this season.

Denis Zakaria

Borussia Monchengladbach have had their midfield talents pilfered in recent seasons with Granit Xhaka and Mahmoud Dahoud exiting.

However, a new star has emerged in the shape of Denis Zakaria, a summer signing from Swiss club, Young Boys.

The powerful 20-year-old has been likened to Xhaka, as well as Paul Pogba and Patrick Vieira.

Already a full Switzerland international, Zakaria has been dominating the centre of the park for Borussia this season.

Maximilian Philipp

Having made his name at Freiburg, Philipp has been on-fire since moving to Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The 23-year-old forward has scored two goals and bagged two assists in four league games for BVB since moving to Signal Iduna Park.

The Germany Under-21 international is surely the next in line to join the senior set-up.
