Five transfers that could happen before winter window closes

While the end of the transfer window is fast approaching, there could still be some late deals which cross the line and the last day is usually very hectic.

This January hasn’t perhaps been as busy as previous years in terms of lucrative signings, though there have still been some interesting switches, including Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend both making moves to Newcastle United for £12m apiece.

Coral suggest five moves which could materialise before the window slams shut, with plenty of players still being linked with Premier League clubs to aid them for the rest of the season.

Moussa Dembele to Tottenham

De ja vu? No, not quite, here we’re talking about Spurs’ Belgian midfielder’s namesake who plies his trade for London rivals Fulham in the Championship.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be keen on bringing the 19-year-old Frenchman to support Harry Kane and the Argentine has demonstrated a talent for developing youngsters, so there will be a confidence that in the next few months, Dembele can become a starter, following the same route as Kane did with equal effect.

Latest reports indicate that a deal is nearing completion, which is likely to cost Spurs (8/1 with Coral to win the Premier League) an initial £5m for the forward who has struck 11 goals in all competitions so far this term.

Wahbi Khazri to Sunderland

According to reports, the Black Cats have agreed a £9m fee for Bordeaux’s Tunisian international midfielder Khazri, who has been tracked by Aston Villa and Celta Vigo recently. The 24-year-old would become the club’s second signing of the month after Jan Kirchoff moved from Bayern Munich.

Saido Berahino to Newcastle

The Magpies have embarked on an ambitious spending spree this winter, with Mike Ashley deciding to roll the dice in a bid to ensure the club stay in the Premier League with the club odds-on at 4/7 to do so.

Having brought in the aforementioned Shelvey and Townsend, indications suggest that boss Steve McClaren is keen to have an English core, which, doesn’t come cheap. In a bid to upgrade attacking options, West Bromwich Albion striker, Berahino who nearly joined Tottenham in the summer has become a much desired target.

It appears the Baggies are resigned to losing the 22-year-old, though are understood to want in excess of £20m for the player. Such a signing would significantly raise morale among Magpies fans and he can certainly help to fire the club up the Premier League.

Sadio Mane to Manchester United

This is a long-running saga, and while Southampton have stood firm on this, Man Utd may be forced to make a lucrative offer on the final day if Louis van Gaal decides bringing in an attacker is urgent. Mane has made his stance clear, indicating he wants a move away from St Mary’s so this could have legs.

Emmanuel Emenike to West Ham United

Coach Slaven Bilic has confirmed that this deal is close with the Fenerbahce striker set to join the Hammers initially on loan, with a view to a permanent deal this summer. He will be a welcome addition to what is a varied, yet talented West Ham attack and can make an impact at Upton Park.
