Following news that, arguably West Ham United’s player of the season so far, Dimitri Payet has been ruled out injured, it could see the Hammers falter over the ensuing weeks, with Slaven Bilic’s side currently sixth in the Premier League.
As a result, Coral suggest five players who this east London side could potentially swoop for in the January transfer window to replace the Frenchman’s flair with the club 11/2 from Coral for a top six finish this season.
Ivan Mocinic
Regarded as one of Croatia’s brightest prospects, the 22-year-old may relish linking up with compatriot Bilic at West Ham, who he will have grown up watching as a kid. Currently playing at HNK Rijeka, a step up to the Premier League may be too tempting to resist, should the Hammers come calling.
Adnan Januzaj
Manchester United are reportedly considering recalling the Belgian international from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund due to lack of game time. Should this happen, Bilic could pounce and he could be a great short-term answer to fill in for Payet until he returns, while also providing depth for the rest of the season. Or, the Hammers, who have a reputation for developing young players, may attempt to convince United to sell. Under Bilic, the 20-year-old could flourish.

Martin Odergaard
Having joined Real Madrid last season, the 16-year-old Norwegian attacking midfielder is finding his feet in Los Blancos reserve side Castilla where he has already found the net. Whether he feels it would be wise to uproot himself again is something that he would have to think about, though a loan spell at the Hammers could well fast-track his footballing progress considerably.
Viktor Fischer
If the Hammers could snare the Dane, this would be a superb signing, though he will carry a considerable price tag. Currently at Ajax, the attacking midfielder has scored five goals in 10 Eredivisie matches this season and has drawn comparisons to compatriot and former Ajax player Christian Eriksen, who is excelling at Tottenham.

Silvestre Varela
Although he may be 30, the Porto player has an abundance of experience and even spent the first half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion though had his loan cut short due to injury. However, he did find the net once and on a short term loan deal, could provide ample cover until Payet returns.
