Five Championship tips for weekend clashes

The Championship action continues throughout this weekend, with a host of big clashes taking place across the country from Friday night to Saturday evening, including Newcastle United taking on Brighton and Hove Albion and Leeds United facing Nottingham Forest.

So, ahead of the tasty second tier match-ups, Coral outline five Championship tips for the weekend clashes for punters to enjoy during the action…

Derby to sink Burton without conceding

Starting with Friday’s night tussle between Burton Albion and Derby County, with these two sides entering proceedings with a big contrast in start of season form.

The hosts have managed to win just one of their six games so far inside 90 minutes, having been involved in EFL Cup action as well as domestic outings, including defeats to Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, the visitors have lost just once in six matches to date, including a 1-0 victory over Grimsby, with all of their games having been low scoring affairs. So backing Derby to triumph to nil once more at 13/5 with Coral is very promising.

Forest to topple Leeds and both sides score

Forest enter their encounter with Leeds on a high after back-to-back Championship and League Cup wins over Wigan Athletic and Millwall respectively, with the former having ended in an epic 4-3 victory at the City Ground.

The hosts will also be buoyed by the fact their travelling Yorkshire opponents have not recorded a fixture success since September 2012, and they are 17/5 to overcome the Whites with both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Blackburn to end Fulham run at home

Fulham are so far unbeaten this season and sit in an early promising position of 5th in the table, after two wins and as many draws so far, though their impressive form could come to an end at the hands of Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The home outfit have not tasted defeat to the Cottagers in their own backyard since 2005 and have prevailed in their last three meetings there domestically.

So, despite sitting bottom of the table at this early stage, the Rovers’ 11/5 price to secure another home fixture victory is encouraging.

Bristol City and Villa to play out stalemate

Both Bristol City and Aston Villa will take to their first meeting since 1982 in poor form, with the latter having drawn their previous two successive outings and their opponents losing on the last two occasions.

Another sharing of the spoils looks well on the cards in this clash at Ashton Gate Stadium, with recent form and history suggesting the 9/4 price for that outcome to occur is well worth backing.

Gayle to net first for Toon over Brighton

In Saturday’s evening tussle, Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle will look to continue their recent rejuvenation, having won their last three games in all competitions after losing the opening two league outings of the term.

Toon summer signing Dwight Gayle has found his feet on Tyneside and was on target in both the wins over Reading and Cheltenham Town in recent weeks, making the former Premier League forward a tasty 7/2 to open the scoring this time out.
