Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic were on the receiving end of a 7-0 thrashing in their opening Champions League game this season, as a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona ran riot at the Nou Camp, recording one of the biggest wins in the competition’s history.
The Catalan giants, 11/4 favourites with Coral to go all the way in Europe this term, saw Messi hit a hat-trick, while fellow forward Luis Suarez bagged a brace, with Neymar and Andres Iniesta both getting on the scoresheet as well to inflict a damaging scoreline on the travelling Bhoys.

Manchester United 7-1 Roma, 2006/07
Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was still in the process of building a side capable of challenging in Europe, something he would eventually achieve once again in 2008, but the signs were there in a home clash against Roma.
In the 2006/07 campaign, a Red Devils roster starring Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs and Alan Smith rallied to an impressive 7-1 quarter-final victory at Old Trafford, setting up a tie with AC Milan.
Liverpool 8-0 Besiktas, 2007/08
The season in which Man Utd grabbed their third European crown, Liverpool rampantly secured one of the most dominant results in the competition’s history, overcoming Turkish club Besiktas 8-0 in front of a rapturous Anfield crowd.
Peter Crouch opened and rounded off the scoring on Merseyside, with Yossi Benayoun dispatching a treble, skipper Steven Gerrard firing in and Ryan Babel getting amongst the goals with a double in a supreme rout.
Bayern Munich 7-0 Basel, 2011/12
German champions Bayern Munich feature twice on our list and the first of their superior showings came in a knockout clash against Basel, with Mario Gomez clinically firing in four goals and Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller dispatching doubles.
The Bavarians would go on to fall short at the final hurdle in a penalty shootout against Chelsea, with Didier Drogba helping the Blues claim their first ever Champions League trophy.
Bayern Munich 7-0 Shakhtar Donetsk, 2014/15
Bayern again rallied to an emphatic European result in the 2014/15 campaign, comfortably easing past Ukrainian challengers Shakhtar Donetsk on home soil, with six different goalscorers helping rally to a 7-0 thumping.
German marksman Muller was able to net twice, while Jerome Boateng, Franck Ribery, Holger Badstuber, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze all struck at the Allianz Arena.
Real Madrid 8-0 Malmo, 2015/16
On their way to claiming La Decima, Real Madrid managed to thump Swedish side Malmo 8-0 in the group stage, with Ronaldo starring in the rout as he notched up an impressive four-goal haul at the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos were also benefited by a hat-trick from French frontman Karim Benzema and a later strike from Croatia international Mateo Kovacic.
