Find out which horse Luke Morris is looking forward to riding at Royal Ascot on Thursday…

I was just out of luck on the first day of Royal Ascot with Moscato running well to be fourth in the Ascot Stakes and I’m hoping I can grab a win at the meeting before the week is out.

Looking at the racing on Thursday and Friday you have to think Order Of St George will be tough to beat in the Gold Cup (4.20 Thursday). If he goes on the ground he looks different class to the other runners.

The ground looks to have come right for Jet Setting as well in the Coronation Stakes (4.20 Friday). She looked progressive when beating Minding in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and doesn’t have the same question marks over the surface as some of them do.
I have one ride at Royal Ascot on Thursday and it’s the one I’ve been waiting for.

2.30 Royal Ascot – Prince Of Lir
I’ve been looking forward to riding this horse although my first impression of him was that he might want better ground. However he’s by Kodiac, whose progeny tend to go with a bit of cut in the ground, while the dam’s side of the pedigree has performers that act with a bit of juice, so there’s hope he’ll handle it. He won really well on his only start and I’m certain he’ll have improved for that. I think he’s a nice horse and today we’ll find out how decent he is.

Prince Of Lir is my only ride at Royal Ascot on Thursday as I’m riding at Chelmsford and Lingfield as well! I like St Michel (4.45 Chelmsford) and he was second in a good race at Musselburgh last time. I’d like to think he can make my dash across the country worthwhile.
