After Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final, attention shifts to the Champions League final.
Real Madrid are the current holders of the trophy, beating Liverpool 3-1 in Kiev to win it for the 13th time in what turned out to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s swansong for Madrid.

When is the 2019 Champions League final?
The 2019 Champions League final will take place on Saturday 1st June.
It’s another all-English European Cup final following the Europa League final between Chelsea and Arsenal, with Tottenham Hotspur facing Premier League runners-up Liverpool in the showpiece event.
Tottenham were placed in Group B with Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV Eindhoven, eventually running out runners-up to Barcelona. The finished on eight points thanks to wins against PSV and Inter, alongside draws in Eindhoven and Barcelona. Inter also finished on eight points, but Spurs made it through thanks to their better head-to-head away goals record.
Spurs battled past Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16, winning 4-0 on aggregate before knocking out pre-tournament favourites Manchester City in the quarter-finals on away goals following a 4-4 aggregate score. Spurs beat City 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before losing 4-3 at the Etihad Stadium. They did it the hard way again against AFC Ajax in the semi-final, going 3-0 down over two legs before a late Lucas Moura hat-trick sparked a miraculous comeback to send Spurs through on away goals.
Liverpool were in Group C with Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade. Jurgen Klopp’s side also finished runners-up in their group, behind PSG. The Reds finished on nine points thanks to home wins over each side, including a 1-0 win over Napoli on the final group game to secure their spot in the Round of 16.
The Reds then beat German champions Bayern Munich 3-1 in the Round of 16 following an impressive display at the Allianz Arena, before beating FC Porto comprehensively in the quarter-final, winning 6-1 on aggregate. They too had to come back from the dead in their semi-final, where they went 3-0 down against FC Barcelona after the first leg at Camp Nou. Two goals apiece from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum inspired a famous comeback at Anfield to send Klopp’s men to the final.
Where will the 2019 Champions League final be played?
The 2019 Champions League final will take place in the Spanish capital of Madrid, where the Wanda Metropolitano, home of Atletico Madrid, will host the match.
The stadium first opened in 1994 with a capacity of 20,000 as La Peineta, after it was built as part of the bid for the 1997 World Athletics Championships, which were eventually awarded to Athens in Greece. The stadium was abandoned in 2004, before Atletico Madrid purchased the site and renovated it, turning it into the 67,829 capacity all-seater stadium it is today, which reopened in 2017.
Former notable finals featuring English clubs have been held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, where Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to win the trophy in 2012 and the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow where the last all-English Champions League final was contested between Manchester united and Chelsea, with the Red Devils winning on penalties.
Liverpool famously produced a miraculous comeback against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final, coming back from 3-0 down to win on penalties at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
Tottenham’s temporary home this season Wembley Stadium has also hosted the final before, in 2011 when Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1, and in 2013 where an all-German encounter took place between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, led by current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
What time is the 2019 Champions League final?
This year, the Champions League final will kick-off at 8pm, though pre-match build up will be shown on BT Sport 2HD from 6pm.
How to watch the 2019 Champions League final for free
BT Sport have exclusive coverage rights to show the 2019 Champions League final in England, and will be shown live on BT Sport 2HD.
As well as this, they will be showing it on the Showcase channel on Virgin Media customers (channel 100), and on their YouTube channel. Both of these will be in HD and free of charge.
Can I get tickets to the 2019 Champions League final?
The 2019 Champions League final is officially a sell-out.
Tottenham and Liverpool were both given 16,613 tickets to sell to their fans, which equates to roughly a quarter of the stadium each.
Each side also gets 300 extra tickets for staff members and players families and friends.
Ticket given to each side equates to just under 34,000 seats of the 67,829 all-seater capacity stadium. The remainder of the tickets were sold through a UEFA ballot scheme, and awarded to UEFA sponsors and partners.
