Everton manager odds and analysis

Everton are searching for a new manager after Carlo Ancelotti completed a shock return to Real Madrid.

The Italian has left Goodison Park after 18 months in the role where he put foundations in place for the club to start competing for European qualification again.

Coral’s John Hill said: “It is unlikely to be long before Nuno Espirito Santo returns to the dugout and it could come in the Premier League again as he tops the betting to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Everton.

“Eddie Howe has been sitting patiently waiting for his next job and he is second best in the betting while Rafa Benitez is also prominent to return to Merseyside.”

Here, we take a look at the Everton manager odds with Nuno leading the way at 13/8.

Nuno Espirito Santo

The Portuguese left Wolves by mutual consent having guided the club to the Premier League and posting successive seventh-placed finishes in the top flight during his four years at Molineux. The 47-year-old has been strongly linked with the vacant Crystal Palace job after Roy Hodgson retired and he is unlikely to be out of work for long.

Eddie Howe

The former Bournemouth boss seemed to be on his way to Celtic before talks broke down. He left the Cherries after relegation from the Premier League last summer having steered the south-coast club to three promotions in six seasons. Howe, who is 3/1, plays an attractive style of football although the Toffees may prefer someone with more experience.

Rafael Benitez

One person who fits that criteria is Benitez, who recently expressed his desire to again manage in the Premier League following spells with Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle. The 61-year-old helped Merseyside rivals Liverpool to Champions League glory during his time at Anfield so whether Evertonians will be keen for the Spaniard, priced at 11/2, to head across Stanley Park remains to be seen.

David Moyes

Could Moyes be tempted by an emotional return to Goodison Park? The Scot enjoyed 11 seasons with the club before taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. He has just led West Ham into Europe following a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League and is reported to be close to signing a new three-year deal so this move appears unlikely. He is 9/1 in the Everton manager odds.

Antonio Conte

The 51-year-old Italian is out of work after recently leaving Inter Milan despite guiding them to a first Serie A title in 11 years. Conte fell out with the club’s hierarchy over plans to sell a number of players this summer. He has had great success as a manager, winning three Serie A titles with Juventus and the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea and could well be tempted by a return to England.

Conte is 10/1 in the Everton manager odds alongside the likes of assistant manager Duncan Ferguson, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag and Frank Lampard.

Paulo Fonseca, who recently left Roma, is 12/1 while Brighton’s Graham Potter, former Everton boss and current Belgium coach Roberto Martinez and Wayne Rooney of Derby are 16/1.
