Europa League betting tips: Best bets for Thursday
Published:Preview, odds and Europa League betting tips
We have picked out some Europa League betting tips for the four matches involving British teams in the fifth round of fixtures in the 2023-24 group stage.
Liverpool, Brighton and West Ham are flying the flag for the Premier League while Rangers are Scotland’s representatives on another busy night of continental action.
AEK Athens v Brighton
Brighton were on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller when these teams met in September and another entertaining contest could be on the cards in Greece, especially with the hosts realistically needing a win if they are to qualify.
Brighton kept clean sheets in their back-to-back wins against Ajax but have conceded in every Premier League game, although that did not stop them beating Nottingham Forest 3-2 at the weekend.
Let’s go for goals again in our Europa League betting tips, with both teams to score and over 3.5 goals at 7/4 the first of our predictions.
TSC Backa Topola v West Ham
Top faces bottom in Group A with West Ham knowing a victory will secure a top-two finish. They were 3-1 winners in the reverse fixture at the London Stadium despite going behind early in the second half, with the Hammers then striking three times in the space of 17 minutes.
Six of West Ham’s seven goals in their Europa League campaign have come in the second half, perhaps highlighting their strength in depth, and the second half to have the most goals here therefore looks a solid pick at 5/6.
Liverpool v LASK
Liverpool slipped up at Toulouse in their previous Europa League game but remain two points clear at the top of Group E so Jurgen Klopp is expected to ring the changes again. In their four European matches so far Klopp has made 11, 10, eight and nine alterations from the previous Premier League game.
That gives 22/1 underdogs LASK hope of avoiding an Anfield drubbing and they have only conceded six goals during the group stage, so a Liverpool win and under 3.5 goals at 13/10 could be the way to go.
Rangers v Aris Limassol
Rangers are seeking revenge for a 2-1 defeat in Cyprus but that is their only defeat so far and they start the night in second place in Group C, while Limassol are bottom having lost their other three games.
Home advantage should help the Glasgow giants get the job done and qualify with a game to spare, while Limassol have a poor defensive record on their travels. They have conceded four goals in their last two away games so a Rangers win and over 3.5 goals at 9/5 completes our Europa League betting tips.
