Euro 2016 qualifiers: Wales can secure safe passage through with Bosnia win
Published:Wales are 10/3 with Coral to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina in their Euro 2016 Group B qualifier and despite their opponents having only a very slim chance of securing a spot at next summer’s tournament, they will still be more than up for a fight.
Chris Coleman’s side met stubborn resistance when hosting them, almost a year ago to the day with the match finishing as a goalless stalemate, though the Welshman knows that a victory will guarantee them a place at Euro 2016.
Touching on the success of the nation’s rugby team at the World Cup, Coleman said: “We have to see where we can improve again. But we have the chance to do something no-one else has done – and it would be fantastic if we qualified on the same day the rugby team go into the last-eight with a win.”
One positive that Wales can draw on from this qualifying campaign is their hugely impressive defensive record, conceding only two goals so far, the least amount of goals in the group.
A well organised unit, with the irrepressible Ashley Williams a bedrock of their defence, it will be interesting whether Coleman follows a cautious approach in the Balkan state.
It is touch and go as to whether striker Edin Dzeko recovers from a knee injury in time, with the on-loan Roma forward 7/2 to break the deadlock. He has scored eight in qualifying so far, including six in his last four. Ermin Bicakcic and Senad Lulic both netted in the side’s previous outing; a 3-0 victory over Andorra at home and they are 8/1 and 6/1 respectively in the anytime market.
With six goals for Wales so far in Euro 2016 qualifying, Gareth Bale has been their talisman. Despite a somewhat disappointing goalless draw at home to Israel last time out, he struck the only goal in Cyprus before that in what was a tricky encounter, while he also dispatched the solitary strike at home to Belgium.
At 6/4 in the anytime market, he is definitely worth considering and the 26-year-old also bagged a brace in a hostile environment as Wales beat Israel 3-0 with Aaron Ramsey chipping in as well. The Arsenal midfielder is 11/4 to net during the match.
