Euro 2016 qualifiers British & Irish Heroes and Villains

Following another entertaining weekend of Euro 2016 qualifiers, Coral bring you three heroes and villains apiece from the representatives of Britain and Ireland. Read on to see whether you agree with us!

Heroes

Lee Casciaro
Responsible for scoring Gibraltar’s first ever competitive goal, and his nation’s fourth ever goal in history. The usual policeman joins his brother Kyle in the record books to give Gibraltar the lead against Scotland, who eventually ran out 6-1 winners.

Harry Kane
On the pitch for just 79 seconds, the Tottenham centre forward scored on his debut, heading back across goal to make it 4-0 to England over Lithuania. There is no doubt that the 21-year-old has a huge future for the Three Lions, and there are already suggestions that he could become the country’s all-time scorer, regardless of whether Wayne Rooney breaks Sir Bobby Charlton’s record. England are 12/1 with Coral to win Euro 2016.

Kyle Lafferty
The Northern Ireland striker put in a brilliant display, bagging a brace as Michael O’Neill’s men beat Finland 2-1 to remain a clear second in Group F, one point behind leaders Romania. His country are 5/2 to win their group with five qualifying matches remaining.

Villains

Scotland
No disrespect to Gibraltar, but for Scotland, a squad of professionals, who get paid thousands per week to play football, to concede against a team made up of part-time players, is embarrassing.

Robbie Brady
Playing at left back for Republic of Ireland, the Hull City player was at fault for Poland’s goal, scored by Slawomir Peszko.

Phil Jones
Outpaced a number of times by Lithuania’s frontmen, the Manchester United man looked far too casual, complacent and unfit. Better opposition would have run rings around him, and this is surely a sign that Roy Hodgson needs to seriously think about whether the 23-year-old has a future in the heart of defence, with much better options, such as Ryan Shawcross available.
