Euro 2016 qualifier: Wales win against Belgium can send Dragons top

Wales and Belgium meet at Cardiff City Stadium for what could prove a crucial clash in Euro 2016 qualifying Group B, as the top two, currently neck-and-neck on 11 points, battle for the final time in this pool.

The Red Devils (odds-on favourites at 4/5 to win with Coral) currently claim first place due to goal difference, but the Dragons can leapfrog Marc Wilmots’ men if they emerge as victors from this duel, which is vital as surprise package Israel are lying in wait just two points adrift on nine.

Belgium of course boast strength in-depth and quality across their entire squad, from Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois in net, Southampton loan star Toby Alderweireld at centre back, to a host of exciting top draw attacking options including Wolfsburg wizard Kevin De Bruyne (9/1 to net last) and Blues menace Eden Hazard (7/4 to strike anytime), with their only glaring weakness natural fullbacks.

Wales (15/4 to win) have, however, shown their resolve to reach France 2016 with a sensational qualifying campaign so far, and are yet to lose a game. Chris Coleman’s men have momentum, and managed to steal a point at the King Baudouin in the reverse, and are 12/5 to snatch a draw again on home turf.

Available at 14/4 to keep a clean sheet once more, Wales will have to be wary, as Belgium have been in brilliant form, notching 13 in five qualifiers and smashing four past France in a friendly last time out.

Powerful midfield man Radja Nainggolan (11/2) was on target against Les Bleus, though Marouane Fellaini, who bagged a brace, misses out due to a groin injury, but the Dragons will still have to contend with in-form forward Christian Benteke (5/1 to strike first).

Despite their electric attackers, the Red Devils have shown defensive liabilities having conceded three against France, and are missing captain Vincent Kompany, and Wales have the talent up top to punish any errors.

According to reports, Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale could lead the line as a lone striker, with his pace on the break primed to exploit the visitors’ frailties, so back the fleet-footed winger at 6/1 to breach Belgium’s backline first, or 9/1 to bag a brace or better having previously hit two past Israel.

Coleman can also call on Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, and the Dragons’ dangerman was also on target against the Israelis and so is an excellent 11/4 chance in the anytime market.
