Portugal seek first win in final group game

After successive stalemates with both Iceland and Austria, Portugal go in search of their first Euro 2016 Group F victory when they collide with Hungary on Wednesday evening, with three points set to secure them a place in the knockout phase.

Navigators captain Cristiano Ronaldo missed a late penalty in the most-recent draw with Austria as his nation endured another frustrating outing, but they will be hopeful of banishing those performances and prevailing in Lyon having never lost to Hungary in 10 previous meetings.

Fernando Santos’ side are 17/5 with Coral to win and both teams get on the scoresheet, while the Hungarians are 10/1 to spring another surprise and emerge victorious after their win over Austria and draw against Iceland.

Hungary sit top of the standings in Group F and a draw, which is 10/3 to occur, should be enough for them to remain there, while a third consecutive stalemate could be costly for Portugal depending on the score from Austria versus Iceland.

Ronaldo set to banish past performances

All-time club and country marksman Ronaldo has come under criticism for his first two outings in France, but the Real Madrid sharpshooter will look to finally get off the mark and become the first player ever to score in four successive European Championship finals.

The Portugal captain is 7/4 to tuck home two or more goals at the third time of asking here or 9/4 to open proceedings, following the disappointment of hitting the post with his spot-kick against Austria.

Former Manchester United wideman Nani has struck his nation’s only goal so far in the finals and the current Fenerbahce attacker is 5/4 to find the target one more against Hungary, while fellow winger Ricardo Quaresma enters at 7/4 to strike.

In midfield, Valencia anchorman and reported Manchester United target Andre Gomes will be seeking another solid showing and he is 11/2 to get on the scoresheet, with central partners William Carvalho and Joao Moutinho 6/1 and 11/2 respectively to score themselves.

Szalai Hungary for further scoring success

Hungary forward Adam Szalai bagged his country’s first goal at the tournament this summer and is 7/2 to fire in again anytime here, while Zoltan Stieber is 7/1 to do the same after also dispatching in the opening victory over Austria.

Meanwhile, Tamas Priskin is 7/2 to get on the scoresheet, with Balazs Dzsudzsak and Nemanja Nikolic 4/1 and 5/1 chances to find the target against Portugal.

There has been an abundance of late goals struck on French soil so far this summer and odds of 15/4 can be had on both nations to find the net in the second-half, while 14/5 is available on these two sides scoring and either team triumphing in this Group F match-up.
