Odds and preview for 2019 Cricket World Cup match

England got their 2019 Cricket World Cup campaign off to the perfect start on Thursday, with a convincing 104-run win over South Africa at the Oval.

In contrast, Pakistan struggled in their opener. They were bowled out for just 105 runs in 21.3 overs, losing to the West Indies by seven wickets at Trent Bridge.

England showed why they are the 13/8 favourites for the tournament, but Pakistan will want to put on a much better show this time out. Can they get the better of the Green Shirts?

Before it gets underway, we’ve got the pre-match odds and info…

Head-to-Head

England have the much better record against Pakistan in ODI’s, winning 53 of the 87 matches they’ve played. Pakistan have 31 wins to their name, with the two also having three games ending without a result.

The most recent meetings between these nations saw England run out 4-0 winners in their five-match ODI series in May, including England chasing a total of 359 to win in the third ODI at the Bristol Country Ground.

Match Odds

England are the outright favourites to make it a fifth win in six matches against the Green Shirts. Trevor Bayliss’ side are odds-on at 2/9 to get a second win of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

After an extremely poor showing in their first match against South Africa, Pakistan will hope to cause a shock here and avenge that defeat. They’re 10/3 to win here.

Players to Watch

Four English batsmen scored half-centuries in their first match against South Africa, including a top-scoring knock of 89 from Ben Stokes. He’s 8/1 to be the top scorer again today.

Jonny Bairstow claimed the first golden duck of the tournament, being caught by Quinton de Kock after just two minutes at the crease. He’ll be hoping for better this time, with the Yorkshireman 10/3 to top score.

On the bowling side of things, Jofra Archer impressed in his first match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, claiming three wickets. He’s 11/4 to take the most wickets against Pakistan, with 8/11 saying he claims over 1.5 wickets.

There wasn’t much that impressed for Pakistan against the West Indies, but Fakhar Zaman knocked his 22 runs from only 16 balls. He’ll be hoping for a better opening stand this time, and he’s 5/6 to score over 35.5 runs.

Mohammad Amir claimed all three of the Windies wickets on Friday, and only gave away 26 runs in the process from his six bowled overs. He’s 7/2 to be Pakistan’s leading wicket taker, and you can find 6/4 on over 1.5 wickets being taken.
