England v Australia Tips: Will hosts breeze to a Twickenham triumph?

England have had plenty to cheer against old enemies Australia in recent times. Eddie Jones’ side have won all five meetings since the start of 2016.
However, while their head-to-head dominance isn’t in doubt, this hasn’t been a vintage year for England. Will they come good at Twickenham, or can the Aussies spring a surprise?

After a hit-and-miss tour of South Africa, England have improved of late. November has seen victory over the Springboks and Japan, as well as a 16-15 loss to New Zealand.
By contrast, Australia head into this game after a miserable run of two wins in eight games – including an embarrassing defeat to Argentina on home soil in the 2018 Rugby Championship.
With the stats on their side and Twickenham the destination, England are 1/3 favourites for victory. Meanwhile, it’s 9/4 the Aussies grab a win, and 25/1 for the Tie.
Key Men
Few players in Rugby Union right now hold the promise that Joe Cokanasiga does. The Bath winger is still just 21-years-old, but has already racked up 85 points in 29 Premiership games. His pace will make him a nightmare for the Wallabies.
There could also be interest in Sale Sharks youngster Tom Curry (brother of Ben). The flanker has picked up five England caps since his debut last year, and will be looking to boost his reputation.
For Australia, experienced Dane Haylett-Petty could be the danger man. He’s in fine form for club side Melbourne Rebels – with five tries in 11 games. But he’ll have to be at his absolute best if he’s to help the Wallabies get a result.
Winning margins and Tryscorer odds
England have won each of the last four head-to-heads by more than 10 points. Ahead of this one, they’re 10/11 in the -8.0 handicap, while England to win by 16-20 points is a 13/2 shot.
In the Anytime Tryscorer odds, England’s Cokanasiga joint-heads the betting at 6/5. And he’s 7/1 to Score the First Try of this game. As for Jonny May, he’s the same price on both counts.
For the Wallabies, Haylett-Petty is 10/3 to bag a try, while Rebels teammate Will Genia is a shade longer at 9/2.
