Coral reacts to Group G result with odds cut

England’s odds of winning the World Cup have been dramatically cut following this afternoon’s 6-1 demolition of Panama.

The Three Lions are now just 9/1 with Coral to win the tournament after guaranteeing their place in the last-16 with a game to spare.  Captain Harry Kane scored a hat-trick against the Central American side and is now 15/8 favourite to win the Golden Boot in Russia.

“England were hot favourites to beat Panama, but winning 6-1 was priced at 100-1 and not too many punters saw that coming,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“There was a near miss for one patriotic punter, who had odds of 250-1 that Harry Kane would score a hat-trick in a 7-0 win for England, it would have cost us £50,000 and I’m sure the online customer was getting rather excited until Panama got their late consolation goal to end his hopes,” added Stevens.

“Gareth Southgate’s men are now 9-1 to go all the way, having been 18-1 before the tournament began, and after that performance, even we’re beginning to believe it could happen,” concluded Stevens.
