England change things up vs Proteas

Hampshire provides the backdrop for the start of what promises to be an exciting T20 round, and England will be looking to lay-down an early marker with a convincing win. That’s certainly the way our sports traders see this one going, and there’s no doubts about where our loyalties lie, with an England win priced as 8/11 favourite.

The hosts will experiment with a number of fresh faces, Dawin Malan expected to be given his chance to impress. The 29-year-old left-hander called it an honour to play for his country, but knows he must grab this unexpected opportunity with both hands, and put pressure on the coaching staff to consider him for a regular starting slot.

Malan must grab his opportunity

There are one or two gaps in the England team at present, following recent disappointment, and although fans will be let-down to see a weakened side sent out for the quick-fire form of cricket, before getting into the test series with South Africa next month, those in attendance will get a look at the talent breaking through.

This will be one of few chances handed to the likes of Dawid Malan. Failing to step up and make it count will mean the hard-working run scorer is pushed back down the pecking order, while a solid performance would see him prove he deserves consideration for future outings. Malan is not without his admirers in the game either, and punters can take him at 4/1 to be England’s top batsman on Wednesday, while there’s a bumper 16/1 for Dawid to make headlines with a man of the match performance.

Fancy the upset? South Africa have been written off by our traders, perhaps a little too quickly, and those who rate The Proteas can try their luck on our tempting 11/10 about them winning the first T20.
