England Euro 2016 odds slashed after late Iceland goal

Published:

England have this evening been cut to 17-2 from 10-1 by Coral to win Euro 2016 after a last minute goal by Iceland against Austria meant England will face Iceland and not Portugal on Monday night in the last sixteen.

England have been installed as the 1/5 favourites by Coral to make it through to the Euro 2016 quarter finals from their last sixteen clash with Iceland.  Portugal finished third in Group E after drawing 3v3 against Hungary, who topped the Group, but were sixty seconds away from facing England in the last sixteen until Iceland scored.

“For sixty seconds England’s odds of making the quarter finals were around 5/6 when faced with a clash with Portugal, but the moment Iceland scored their chances improved markedly to 1/5”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“With Portugal now meeting Croatia in the other half of the draw, and England facing a much easier tie in theory against Iceland, suddenly the chances of England lifting the trophy have increased”, added Clare.

England will now fancy their chances of making it through to the Euro 2016 quarter finals where a clash with France awaits in theory.
