Eddie Jones’ side second favourites to New Zealand

After losing out in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final, England are 3/1 second favourites to go one better and win the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Eddie Jones’ side lost 32-12 to South Africa in last year’s final in Japan, but they could challenge for the Webb Ellis Cup when France host the 2023 tournament.

They’re only behind New Zealand in the betting, with the All Blacks picking up the title of favourites at 7/4.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “England fell just short in 2019 and with a favourable pool draw handed to them this morning, they will be aiming a tilt at the trophy again in 2023. We make them 3/1 shots to win the World Cup for the first time since 2003.”

England will face Argentina and Japan after being placed in pool D together. Defending champions South Africa are 5/1 third favourites alongside hosts France for the tournament, while Australia, Ireland and Wales can all be found towards the front at 8/1, 12/1 and 16/1 respectively.

“Scotland face a tricky pool with Ireland to get past if they are to make it to the knockout stages and that means they are the outsiders as far as the home nations are concerned,” added Aitkenhead.

7/4 New Zealand, 3/1 England, 5/1 South Africa, France, 8/1 Australia, 12/1 Ireland, 16/1 Wales, 25/1 Argentina, 50/1 Scotland, 100/1 Japan
